Record Keeping
Just a simple question on how long we should keep copies of our claim statements, Dr. notes, award letters, appeals, SOC, NOD’s, etc. I assuming we should keep every piece of paper we and the VARO has generated to include any VA med stuff indefinitely. Thanks

ptsd Question On Tinnitus & Hearing Loss
I helped a friend (nam combat infantryman) file a claim on 1-29-07 for tinnitus. he was a cat 8 vet with NO access to VA healthcare and needed access because he has several problems which cost him dearly for medications. he was approved for 10% (maximum for tinnitus) on 10-29-07 and has gotten his private medications now being filled by the va for the co-pay. I had been trying to get him to file a claim for ptsd for some time as he does have ptsd, but he just didn't want the va hassle. i finally convinced him and we have filed for ptsd now. my question is, when i finally read the c&p exam report today for the Tinnitus, it stated: Chief Complaint; Poor speech understa…

Veterans Employed By The Va
I noticed in the December 17, 2007 issue of the Army Times that approximately 30 percent of VA employees are veterans. The brief article went on to state that the VA leads other Federal agencies in the hiring of veterans.

Is This A Nexus Enough
I have a question for anyone here that I have been trying to find the answer to. I have recently been diagnosed with cervical arthritis C5-6 and on a C&P as well as by a neurologist. The VA denies service connection even though it has recognized right shoulder arthritis with neck pain. I have current Xrays of my cervical arthritis as well as Electromagnetic testing and an MRI confirming the disease and noting C5-6 radiculopathy in both arms. When I was discharged in the mid 90's the VA recognized "arthritis right shoulder with neck pain" and it was coded 5010-5203. The VA also recognized my low back condition with osteophyte formation under 5295-5010. …

Combined Rating
Can someone explain this, I found this on another post on this site: the veteran said she recieved a combined rated (I think thats what it was called) for all her issues. I have CFS, IBS, reflux disease and depression. Am I correct and assuming that VA is going to combine all these diagnosis into one catagory. Again never heard of this until I read this under FAQ but it did not explain what this meant. Again this is not my cause: (I have not had my C& P yet) 'SUBJECT TO COMPENSATION (1.SC) 8863-6354 CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME CLAIMED AS SYMPTOMS OF FATIGUE, WEIGHT LOSS AND DIARRHEA DIAGNOSED AS IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME AND REFLUX DISEASE, INSOMNIA, ANXIETY NEU…

hypertension I Am Sooooooooo Angry
My Dad just received his Brown Envelope and he was DENIED FOR EVERYTHING. He has Asbestiosis, Sleep Apnea, Pulmonary Hypertension and Cluster Headaches. He was told that the Asbestos was caused by his job that he did when after he got out the Navy. He was told by his job when he filed a Worksmans Comp claim that his Asbestos was caused by the Navy. Tomorrow I will be going to his house to see the letter to begin doing an immediate Notice of Disagreement. We will be sending in the letter from the previous doctor's saying he got it from the Navy. The pulmonary hypertension and sleep apnea is secondary to his asbestos so I think. He said he began getting cluster headaches wh…
