New Benefit Notice From Mike Harris
Received an e-mail from Mike Harris that under the "Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996," there is a discount to Federal Employees Past and Present on cellphone service." He called and got 15%. I did a little checking online and since we worked for the Feds, when in the military, we may be entitled to a discount. Each carrier's discount is different. For those with a DoD ID there should be no problem. I believe Verizon gives 23%, others less. Google "Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996, Discount to Federal Employees Past and Present." This should probably be posted elsewhere but I wanted to be sure it was read by as many as possible. pr

Bogus Claims Clogging The System?
The question of VA backlog and bogus claims jamming the system has come up once again. The VA through its procedures actually invites bogus or more accurately described as "poorly thought out" claims. Correct me if I am wrong or if anything has changed recently. The last time I went into an RO there was a flier on the wall telling people that if they feel they have a claim to just fill out the claim form and the VA will do the rest. This flier explained the duty to assist as being the VA's motivation to process the claim. The veteran then goes to a service rep. sitting at a desk and tells him he wants to file a claim. This rep has a mind of his own and interacts with t…

Local Dentist Contracted By Va
Hi, I have missed you all, I have had computer trouble plus dealing with a greedy dentist. I will give you the situation in a nutshell and if anyone has any advice or ideas, it would be very much appreciated. Background: a dentist whom I have been a patient of for 18 years (my hubby for 14 years) agreed (by performing the work and accepting VA monies) to a contract with the VA to fill a few cavities. The particular VA dental office had a year long wait list but nonetheless I added myself to the list, after one year a person from the dental office called me and asked if I would rather see the VA dentist or a local dentist. At the time it seemed like a no brainer, my local…

The purpose of this change is to improve efficiency in the appeals process and reduce the time that it takes to resolve appeals while still providing appellants with a reasonable" etc I fail to see how this can possibly improve "effeciency" as the VARO-unlike the olden days- ignores these responses in many cases-responses which could alter their denials…

I Think The Va Screwed Up Bad
I put together a couple of charts using a data base program to help me at my hearing. One has every piece of evidence submitted, date submitted, what the evidence is, who submitted it etc etc etc . The other chart is all the conditions and diseases and dates of actions. Look at this and tell me if something doesnt stick out real bad and is a big booboo I think in procedures.
