ptsd Telephone Call From Varo
Friday morning early my husband got a telephone call from the VARO. The person told my husband that they noticed the VCAA letter was signed but that the box was not checked.(we have 3 VCAA letters and a letter from the RO that says to rate the claim) My husband said to this person, "well I guess there is more evidence to come since the VA just sent me two notices for C+P exams one for IBS and one for PTSD/depression. So I guess I still have evidence to submit." He was half asleep and this was not the correct thing to say, as he does not have any further evidence, he is only waiting on the VA to finish gathering thier evidence. Should he have told them that he wants …

My Husband Died. Now What?
My husband died February 5th. He had a claim for service connection for lung cancer pending at the RO. I am thinking that they close the claim -- and I have to file a seperate claim for his claim (as it stood) to be granted for back pay. And that I need to file for DIC even though his claim has not been approved yet. I am assuming we lost the ability to apply for the life insurance that would have been availbale to him had they approved his claim before he died. I am not really at a place where I can research all of this yet. But looking for some words of wisdom. Free

Are Payments A Month Behind?
I am really not ready to start dealing with the WHOLE VA mess right now - though I know I should at least get the DIC claim filed to protect the filing date. But right now I am just handling what needs to be handled right now. My question is - It look like the last disability check is considered belonging to the surviving spouse. My husband was approved for 20% disabled. Are the VA payments a month behind? (like Social Security?) i.e. Does this mean I keep the payment for February and the one for March (if he recieves it) - as the March payment would actually be a payment FOR February? Or are the payments made FOR the month -- meaning that his February p…

How Much Time?
When a decision has been made on an appeal, usually how much time does it take to be notified? Also, if you file an original claim and you appeal it and receive a higher rating, would the retro go back to the date of the original claim date? Makes sense to me if you appealed an original decision and won the appeal. That is saying a mistake was made on the original decision and now has been corrected. Cavman

Approved For A & A
Asked a question a day or so ago pertainng to A & A for my Wife & myself, As I had said we have all the Docs reports to back it up. Called the 1,000 number today & was informed it was approved. At what percentage I have no idea. My only problem is that the talking head on the 1,000 line may be wrong. I certainly hope not. Does anyone have any idea what percentage they usually rate at & yes I'm rated at 100% T & P. Also, Thank each & everyone who responded with some ideas &/or advise GARY

ptsd Deferred Claims...why?
In my decision it states: We have deferred a decision on the following issues because we need additional information or evidence: * tinnitus * hearing loss * gerd/hiatal hernia I took a tinnitus c & p last December. I sent in a great IMO for the gerd/hiatal hernia as secondary to PTSD. I sent in IMO for hearing I also filed for insomnia, but it wasn`t even mentioned. Something else funny, a psychiatrist IMO, 4 letters, med descriptions etc were not even listed in my evidence list for the appeal. Should I just forget about these claims pending? Also, I got everything with the 70% IU P & T so what would be the purpose of appealing for 100 p…

Appeal Rate Asking For
This is a hypothetical, but very interesting, I think. Say you are at 30% and you appeal asking for 70%. If the raters do not feel your appeal warrants 70%, will your appeal be denied? If they feel it deserves 50%, can they give you a lessor amount than appealed for? I think some of us are under the impression it is all asked for or nothing. Cavman

Property Taxes
This was posted a while back but can not seem to find it. How do I find what states pay property taxes for VA Veterans that are P & T ? The state of Wisconsin reinburses you but you must be 65 and I would like make mention to this to our Wisconsin Rep.'s if possibly checking into changing this. Thanks in advance.

ptsd Just Separated, Need Help
I just separated after and I am starting my first claim and need some advice. Advised By Dr. To Open Depression Claim
I have a current claim with VA for back and knee injury. I had received 50% from discharge till Dec 2004. Then had surgery on my back and received 100% till July 2006. Now I receive 10% back and 30% knee. My Psyc. Dr. recommended opening a claim for depression. I was referred for eval by my primary and the psyc Dr says I am depressed. My primary keeps complaining that I am working because my back is still giving me bad pain everyday. I try to manage the pain with aleve and flexiril. It helps but not alot. The pain meds, oxycodone and codiene make me really sick at my stomach so I do not take them. I dont think Im depressed. They say I am since I do not participate in al…
