Gaf? How Does One Get This Score
I have seen where several posts have mentioned Gaf scores and I was curious as to how one receives this score and what type of C&P you must have to receive one. I had a C&P for Chronic Depression Anxiety last month, will I receive a Gaf from this Exam or must I have a different type of C&P?

ptsd Ptsd @ 50%, Just Diagnosed W/ Moderate Sleep Apnea
Hi all, Just got back from the VA where I had a follow-up appointment with the Nurse Practitioner about a recent sleep study. The results stated that I have Moderate Symptoms of Sleep Apnea which affect the onset of REM sleep/ sleep disturbances. The study concluded moderate obstructive sleep apnea, with a severe REM associated component. CPAP therapy was recommended. I currently have a 50% rating for PTSD, would the results of this study serve to increase the current rating? Should I file a separate claim? What would you all recommend? Sincerely, Gerald

hypertension Hypertention Secondary To Sleep Apnea
Hello all I am going to make this quick, I hope and not take up to much time. I was awarded an increase for sleep apnea, Well I guess I need to tell you what this VA rep told me before i can get to the question. “He said to me, why haven’t you claimed hypertension secondary to your sleep apnea?" I am sitting there looking like an idiot. Like what are you talking about? Then he explained and it made some since. Therefore, we did the paper work and now we do the waiting. People I did not know there was such a creature as a secondary to anything service connected … I just assumed that when they finally paid you for what you filed. If there were any other prol…

Hep C
Hi, I served in the US Navy on board the USS Lexington from 1958 to mid 1962. In 1992 I found out that I was infected with Hep C. My contention is that it is very possible that I had contacted it while giving blood to the Phillipine National Red Cross, or getting a shave and haircut in any of the Far East Ports that we visited or possibly from a shared razor while at sea for extended periods. My question to throw out to the group is: Have any of you been successful in filing a claim with the VA for Hep C that you may have contacted prior to Viet Nam or under any of the circumstances that I've addressed? I do have a recent letter in my VA medical file saying …

C & P Today
Greetings to all, My wife and I took an elderly man to a C&P exam today. It appears the exam went as expected, however the MD who did the exam now wants another C&P exam (Nerve exam) in regards to his Median Nerve. What is a Median Nerve? and what type of nerve test can be done? The doctor was not specific and refered to an nerve exam called EMG or something like that. Does anyone know what this man is headed for and can help with how to prepare for this type of exam. He is extremely stressed and full of anoxiety in regards to this matter. I will pray for protection. Can anyone help? Thank you and God bless you all. Bound4Heaven

hypertension Post Stroke Sleep Apena
Although I have a couple of episodes in my military records of sleep problems no one ever suggested that I have sleep apena. Now since my stroke in Jan 05 I have real problems with my sleeping. A recent sleep study found apena. The Doc says it is most likely due to my SC'ed stroke. However, I have not found any research to suggest such a connection. If this is true would I be able to have it SC'ed secondary to my stroke or should I explore the possibility of SC'ing it to the two or three references in my SMR's which are listed as DX - sleep difficulities? I also have complaints of sleep problems on my exit physical which were commented on as probably due to service …

In another post someone had mentioned if you give a doctor something you had prepared like notes during a C&P they must include it for the record, is this true? Where does it say this?

Cue?
I was service connected and rated 0% in Feb. 1982 for left medial meniscectomy. I received my C file today and a copy of the my military medical record was included. It clearly showed a left medial meniscectomy while in service and the VA acknowledged it when they SC it and assigned 0%. They used diagnostic code 5259 "Cartilage, semilinar, removal of, symptomatic.............10%. The way I read Appendix A to Part 4 the code has not changed since 1946. Should I Cue it or ask them to reconsider the claim. Thanks Gunny

ptsd Depression, Recurrant And Ptsd Advice?
Okay, claims filed, denials recieved, getting IMO to establish nexus. VA official written diagnosis;depression recurrant. A> In appeals, s it true i can reference each claim ptsd/depression to the other, since both connected? B>If medical records show condition incorrectly "diagnosed" over 20 years ago, then current VA pysch helps "define" the correct diagnosis, how does VA handle that ? Is that a CUE if the diagnosis was wrong in military medical records? C>How does this "depression" statement affect my occasional employability? No meds, still do I need to disclose? Thanks, cg
