New Vet
I talked to a vet today who wanted to know if he had a claim or not. He was in the military for 22 years. He was treated for a mental disorder while in service and he is being treated for the same disorder now. He went to the VAMC and talked to a VA psychiatrist. The VA shrink told him he did not have a claim because when he was a kid he had problems. I told him to file a claim. In my opinion he was ambushed by the VA shrink. He may have had some childhood problems but he retired from the military after 22 years so he must have been good enough to get in and stay in all those years.

Confused 30% Rating Decision
Hello All, Well, I WON ! A 30% rating (and I am grateful) in Febuary 2006 but there are too many things wrong with this and my DAV SO is uncertain as to how to proceed with the NOD. Not only is my SO confused, but every Vet Rep I have confided in thus far... so I bring my case back to HADIT for procedural guidance on the following questions. 1. this rating is for pain and 2 scars. can anyone tell me what is the code for cavernous hemangioma active disease of the left forearm, wrist and hand? In other words, why didnt they rate the underlying diease in addition to the pain and scars? the pain was rated under limitation of motion, yet I didnt qualify for the minimu…

Formal Appeal
I submitted my VA Form 9 to VARO the first week of Feb 06. I thought that once submitted it would get a docket number and sit around until BVA called for it. So I called 1-800 and asked for the status. I was told that they are working my claim and it should be done in about 30 days. When I asked what that meant I was told "thats all it says so you will get an answer within 30 days." Anyone wanna take a guess as to what is going on with my appeal? The appeal was for seven seperate items. Since then I have written and asked for a post decisional hearing with the DRO but they claim that although it has been received they can not tell me any info about it and I will ge…

ptsd Never A Clear Answer
B) You guys on this site have just really pissed me off to no end. I have asked and asked all over the place if you can or cannot get SSI or SSDI if you are 100% P/T... Each time I ask the question I continue to get stupid answers. No one will answer the question. So I'll ask one more time, can you get SSI? Can you get SSDI? while you recieve 100% P/T? Keep it simple please my brain can't handle much more.... I'm not a combat Vet but I should be because after twenty years of VA BS I know I have PTSD cause I get angryand frustrated just thinking about this stuff and all that I've gone through, you really have no IDEA...

Military To Hound Injured And Deceased Veterans For Debt Repayment?
I just happen to see this news headline on the ticker tape several times this morning while watching Good Morning America. I have searched all the news websites that I know of and couldn't come up with anything on this. Does anybody have any information or can shed any light on what is going on here?

ptsd Lessor Of 2 Eviels
Dear fellow veterans & friends. This new surprise of putting our SSD on the tabel to be axed may be a ploy. They lost the first battle with the PTSD review and this SSD take away plan seems to be an after thought. They know congress is going to have to make the ruling to cut any of our benifits. The commission is still to make a ruling if disabled vets getting compensaton is something we are entitled to. I think what may eventually play out is this. Congress will be put in a situatoin where they feel they have to chooose between VA comp SSD or vets loosing everything. This will allow those who would screw vets but are affraid of being voted out of…

ptsd Accured Benefit
B) Berta , thanks for your help as well as others advice on my claim for my deceased husband's 100% disability re-evaluation was awarded . From 50% to 100% PTSD. Hope this will encourage others to not give up. I sure wish it had been before his death. He fought so hard for this decesion to be made and reconsidered but it was to late for him. The facts were there without a doubt, 6 months after I filed it was increased a retroactive increase to 100% rating decision established from Jan. 2002. My next question is how long does it take to get the retro pay ? Its been 4 wks, and nothing yet. How will I know if its correct or not ? I was denied DIC …

ptsd Need Advice On Claim
:) I have really enjoyed reading everyone's comments but have never replied or written . This board is new to me so hope I'm doing this correctly. I need advice on getting help with my DIC benefit claim. My husband died from a heart attack going on 6 months ago. He had PTSD, and a 50% disability, he was trying to get a 100% disability at his time of death. I'am disabled and in the process of getting my SSD, but that could be many months or maybe a yr. or more. I have filed for DIC but all I get is a letter each month from VA saying my case is being worked on. I have no income and haven't had since my husband died in Sept.2005. Please help me if you know of…
