Hep "c" Question
A friend of mine told me today that he recently tested positive for Hep "C". The blood test was taken by the VA because he wanted to enter a live-in rehabilitation program. He was an Army medic from 1967 to 1970. He had a combat MOS. However, he was stationed in Germany and performed ENT examinations. He has no idea as to how and when he contracted this disease. I looked around hadits home page and could not find much about it. Where can I get info? Are there any presumptive issues? Can it be service connected? How are the symptoms rated? Hoppy 100% for Angioedema with secondary conditions

lumbosacral A Few Questions
My husband was admitted to a VA hospital for low heart rate, low B/P and kidney failure. His heart rate was 46, B/P was 71/38 and his lab work for Bun was 130 (normal is 10-20). His lab for Creatin was 5.5 (normal is .7 - 1.4), and was close to needing dialysis. He was released yesterday and all his labs looked fine they were just a little above normal. Before he was realeased they sent in physical therapy to check his mobility, and he was given a walker and a wheelchair to take home. He was only using a cane at the time. The physical therapist said it would eventually be upgraded to a power chair. He currently has a combined S/C rating of 80% IU PT for PTSD 70%, C…

hypertension Daughter And Discharge
Thank you for letting me be a member of this board. Long story will try to make it short. My Daughter has served for ten years, USAF. Four months ago they sent her to the Azores unaccompanied (has Husband and two small children). When they sent her there she had already been diagnosed with Depression, OCD and Thyroid of which none had been stabilized with meds. Now, 4 months later she is so bad they are sending a packet to Randolph for discharge. None of her illnesses are under control yet..... Her symptoms worsened GREATLY because she was seperated from her family...Her Thyroid is out of control. She also has Hypertension that was diagnosed in the AF. What I n…

lumbosacral Claim Denial By False Logic
Have nexus, evidence, and living with pain, yet a claim for an increase from 0% was denied with lightning speed. I don't know what to do next. Am willing to shell out $$ for a civilian ortho MD if it will help, but I don't have health insurance, so I must know what kind of evidence and info I'm looking for before I go. Long story short- SC 0% upon discharge for Lumbosacral Strain. Back pain has progressively gotten worse in last 10 years until 2003. 5 consecutive months of (intermittent) incapacitating back problems in that year, VA performed MRI and diagnosed a herniated disk. With this I applied for an increase, and with murphy's law in full force, my back pain was i…

Cues And Bva Decisions
Only a VARO or BVA decision that is Final can be CUED. A BVA remand is not a final decision. If you get a partial remand and one denial still holds at the BVA, then that specific denial could be Cued. If you get a BVA denial , you also get info as to appealing to the CAVC. You have 120 days after the mailing date of the BVA decision to file a NOA (Notice of Appeal) with the CAVC. Then you will hear from the lawyers- Within that time of potential appeal , you cannot final a CUE because the decision could be appealed- therefore it is not final. Once it is docketed at the CAVC a CUE claim on it is technically a moot point. However the CAVC claimant can raise t…

Need More Help
I've been Googleing it so much lately my eyes are going googley. I've followed everones advice and I just know that out there somewhere is a little known place that I can find proof the USS OGDEN LPD 5 was off the coast of Vung Tau from 16 to 24 December 1969. Maybe one of the Marines out there would have some info of where to look. Thanks Gordon

Va 9 Submitted
Does anyone really know what happend when the VARO recieves the VA 9 on your appeal? Do they re-look it to see if they really did such a poor job during the DRO process or do they simply throw it aside for a few months then do what is called certification for BVA and then ship it out? I was told by a vet locally that they normally reviewed it again to see if your new arguements was going to make them look stupid and if so they would probably re-rate it and issue a SSOC. Anyone out there want to take a guess? Surely since they keep it around for a few months they could take another 15 seconds to look it over. Ricky

Cfr And Laying Out Evidence
When the CFR lists the rating critria, such as the copied version below, can the RO deny this rating level because only one or two of the OR statements is met? In my case specifically I am on a daily dose of three puffs of an inhaled corticosteroids and have been on four Predisone bursts this last year. While these prescriptions are listed in my medical record, I have a feeling the RO will miss this and force me to NOD the unfavorable rating decision, should I write a statement laying out the timeline of the Prednisone bursts? FEV-1 of 40- to 55-percent predicted, or; FEV-1/FVC of 40 to 55 percent, or; at least monthly visits to a physician for required care o…

diabetes Diabetes
Update, My buddy has won his 100% and back pay to 1989, the year that I first helped him file a claim. But he is messed up pretty bad from not getting the proper diagnosis from the Navy and then the VA. He had it- then not, he had it- then not etc. He is now recovering from the loss of one foot lost due to complications. His new lawyer says he will get millions from the pending lawsuit and the VA is trying to 'LET'S MAKE A DEAL' frequently. He just tells them he has a lawyer and to take their proposals to her. They have turned down some large settlements so far and they keep getting bigger. His case has so much medical stupidity in it that the NAVY i…

My Neck
I finally got the MRI that the specialist wanted and it's bad. The structure of my neck is really screwed up. Bulging, collapsing, slipped and slid, arthritis and curving the wrong way. The effects on my body and daily life from the pinched nerves is getting pretty severe. Do you think this is serious? Should I let the VA go in? How about a D.N.R.? Could this be connected to my lower back which I injured while in the service? Any comments? sledge
