ptsd NEED Help With DIC
My husband was 100% permanent and Total for five yeas with a service connected disability of Bi polar type 2. He had PTSD but he was never compensated for it. It was only in his records. He lost the fight with his demons and took his own life on February 17, 2017. I have the toxocololgy report and the autopsy showing suicide as the cause of death. I have talked with the KY dept of VA affairs which is the service organization that Sean used to help him get his disability approved. However the person here in Glasgow KY is not the same person who helped him several years ago. The gentleman I talked to is very negative. He has all but told me that he is not sure I will get a…

DIC and SS Disabilty Tax question
I hope I am in the right forum. I apologize if I am not. I receive DIC, and SS disability as well as a portion of my late husbands SS disability. I have not filed taxes in years because I was always told its not taxable and its my only income. Well I just bought a home last year, and I recently saw someone post that if your benefits are 25,000 or more then you have to file. Now Im scared and not sure if I should file this year because I bought a home and I do collect over 25,000. Can someone advise me please? The SS Disability together does not equal 25,000 but, with my DIC its way over. Thank You Cathy

Is 1151 the same as DIC Under 38 U.S.C. 1151
Berta, Is 1151 the same as DIC Under 38 U.S.C. 1151 ? (that acronym needs to be changed-is means death is coming in medical terms) May sound like a silly question but I have found semantics is everything when it comes to a claim.

Dic when both spouses are DAVs
I'm trying to find out if my spouse or I would be eligible for spousal benefits if either of us passed. We are both 100% permanent and totally disabled vets. We're planning for our future, which includes purchasing a new home. We don't want to purchase something that either of us would not be able to maintain in case of death of either of us. Thank you in advance for your help.

Do survivor SSDI benefits affect DIC?
Hi all. My name is Megan. My husband was medically retired from the Navy and rated 100% service connected with the VA. He passed at 36 years old few weeks back due to his illness he was service connected for. He was also on ssdi when he passed and our kids and I were receiving dependant benefits. I was also in the caregiver program with the VA as he was housebound due to seizures after his brain injury. My main question is will our ssdi survivor benefits affect the total amount that is payed by the DIC? I have many other questions but am still I'm the very early stages of dealing with his passing amd would greatly appreciate any tips or nudges in the right directi…
