Well Shellback from what you posted here, I can see what I may to be given. I very similar in what you are experiancing. Well my eval is the coming Monday, we shall see. Thanks for the post it really helped me to under stand more of what to expect.

  2. The very first Thailand AO veteran was a dog handler too.

I imagine you had a lot of perimeter duty.

With CIB on your DD 214 I feel they will conceded a stressor.

Your tunnel rat MOS duties alone are a stressor.

One thing I think helps-to explain any actions or maneuvers in the vils with the best spelling possible.

I helped a vet who was in Hue.

But in his claim he spelled it as "Way".(Easy mistake to make due to the actual pronunciation)

Some of the raters at VAROs these days wouldn't know the difference of Quang Tri or An Hoi from

    K Mart.

Today I got a notice of my appointment, I understand the PTSD part, but it reads,,Clinic: CBC-Copper/PTSD GROUP. I know it will in the VA clinic in Columbus Ga.But what I don't understand is the word COPPER. SWAGing it, could that be the DR. name?

  3. When they set you up for a PTSD C & P exam, the PTSD C & P worksheets are here:

    http://www.vba.va.go...exams/index.htm

    Geez-a tunnel rat.

I have photos of my daughter coming out of one of those tunnels in Vietnam. She said they were pretty overwhelming- many had toilet accomodations (sort up) lots of ammo and food storage, sleeping quarters, intelligence and map rooms, ventilation etc and they were often many miles long and well hidden from the surface.

If you have PH,CAR, or CIB on your DD 214 they will surely concede your stressor.

Your claim will fall under the new PTSD regs here in the PTSD forum.

If it doesn't fall into the "hostile activity" criteria they will run your stressor through JSRRC for verification.

Give the VA as many details as possible regarding your stressor.

A good date esti8mate and of course the place it happened can help JSRRC considerably.

I have dealt with many Vietnam vets and ask them-(if they cant recall stressor dates) was it before or after the Monsoons?, or What was Hanoi Hanna talking about at that time, or what was the latest news back home?

Was it before or after Christmas? Or around the time of a USO show and the main performer can be recalled?

Thanks Berta for the leads I am also a member of the VDHA and have asked a lot of questions about PTSD and have gotten some very good answers, that is if a stressor is good. I remember the events but not dates. Back then I was more concerned about what I was doing and my job AND WHO WAS DEPENDING on me. and yes I do have a CIB.

I was in CU CHI where the tunnels was found and now it is a tourist attraction. I still don't want to go back

    ..

  4. Sorry if I stepped on someone toes here. I was saw it under PTSD section and added my question. SORRY.

So here is my question again. I have received a letter from the VA with an appointment for a evaluation on PTSD. I know my last vist to the VA my Dr. asked me several questions about my tour in Viet Nam. I tried to answer the questions as honest as I cound. So what should I expect from the head doctor. I have read on here about other vets and their experiance. So I guess I am a little scared of what is going to happen.

BTW I was a K9 handler in VN and a TUNNEL RAT when needed

SO Any advice would be helpful.

    thanks,

    Hollis

  5. Hello brothers and sisters, I need some help and advise. I got a letter today from the VA, it seems I have and appointment for a C&P for PTSD. I know I was asked several questions by my VA doctor about my tour in Viet Nam. I don't know what to expect at the meeting. BTW the date is 21 Nov. So if someone can share some help I would appreciate it.,,,

    Thanks,

    Hollis

  6. Just may be, I was denied back in 84, drop it and asked my claim to be reopen in 08,, got 2 hearing test at the VA center in Tuskegee Al. one in Dec 2010 next one was July 2011, on Aug, 4 I got the big brown envelope and I got 50% SC disabillity.20% each ear, and 10% tinitus. So don't ever give up, go and appeal it and ask for 50%. I have file a claim for PTSD waiting on word from the VA on what to do next. Good Luck

  7. Been fighting with the VA since 1972 for my hearing loss. Finally last week, they approved me for hearing aids, I will get them in Nov.

Had appealed my VA claim for Disability, they had only given me 10% for tinitis, yet now they told me I have hearing loss and are giving me hearing aids. So hope they will up my Disability for hearing loss.

keep pushing, I got mine after a denial in 84, I also got 50% this passed Aug., 10% for tinnitus and 20% each ear. But they only went bach 6 months on back pay I am appealing that now.

  8. Never heard of that one, why have a C&P appt. then, doesn't make sense, I always bring paperwork to my C&P's and the Doctor makes copies and also puts it in my Evaluation what paperwork,

I gave him and what Doctor it was from, you might want to call to verify!!!

I would go anyway and take all papers you can.

  9. It didn't say, but I would be willing to bet they do. If they didn't, can you imagine law abiding citizens thinking hey, I can make over half a million dollars that would take me half my lifetime to make, and only have to go to prison for 3 years for it, hell ya, where's the nearest bank.

I live here in Columbus Ga. home of FT Benning, the infantry training ground. We have so many veteran who live here because of the military hospital. I am so ashame what has has happen here. I do wish she had gottem more time. I think that was just a slap on the wrist. 626k equal 18k a month while serving her time. This what encourage other to do the same, NO TIME FOR THE CRIME, But I find it surprising that the lawyer name was not mention.

  10. I see I am not the only one with too much education. Waiting for a response now from ALJ for SSD or SSI. Haven't worked in 20 months due to bad health. Here's a thought ...let's sue for discrimination. Too smart !

Gee if education is the driving factor for denial, I guess I better not apply. I never knew it was based on that, I was always under the impression it was your disability.

  11. Did you keep the claim open since you reopened in 2008 until now by filing NOD's? Or did it close and you reopened in Oct 2010?

What did the award letter say in the Reason & Bases section?

yes I did, I have letters from the VA stating what the decision was on my claim for SC compensation received December 16,2008 were not related to my military service. So I would think that would be good enough to support my claim. They did deny my claim claim on that date, but the letter from the VA was dated July 16, 2009. thankd for the question

  12. I got my award letter and it was good, but I stated back pay to Oct 2010, and that fine, but I need to ask the great folks on here a question. I actually started my claim back in 1984 and was denied, and I let it go. young and dumb, I know my mistake. But in 2008 I asked for my case to be reopen so I could persue it. And that is what I did and the rest is history, got 50% now. SO my question is should I go and ask why they only went back to Oct 2010, and not back to 2008 or even 1984? Thanks for your help and advise.

  13. Well to day I got the BROWN envelope from the VA. I have been trying to get SC for hearing and tinnitus since Oct.2010. Well today I got great news, 40% for hearing and 10% for tinnitus total of 50%. plus back pay from Oct 2010.   This place has been a great help, thanks to all

  14. Yes - my initial exams were scheduled on a weekend. Took all day, but got through them.

well I did find out it was not a C&P EXAM, it was a small physical I am thinking on AO. It came out good, well some what, I will get my hearing aids and my ID card. I also saw found I now have high blood pressure, and one of my kidneys isn't up to par. More is coming inthe future
