  1. Sparkle - you might want to not post w/capital letters, as it's considered "yelling" and is considered by many as rude. I sincerely doubt you'll ever get 100% and IU, as you can only get one or the other. Congrats on the SSDI win! pr
  2. I finally rec'd my statement of the case, from the AMC, w/the decision. Denied!!! No surprise, there. Gonna keep on keepin' on. Never ever give up!!!! Airborne, Sergeant!!!!! pr
  3. I'd apply for the scar(s), COPD, increase in PTSD, at minimum. Never let someone talk you out of applying!!!! Like evandc stated, 10% for PTSD is a slap in the face! Remember the VA docs work for the VA and many won't bite the hand that feeds them. jmo pr
  4. TANKERJOEO - first off, you might want to not post w/the capital letters?? On the internet, capital letters mean you are considered shouting and are not appreciated, by many. It could reflect on how many respond to your post and cost you some good help. jmo Thanks!! Generally, I would say no they don't but on my recent C&P, the doc did contact my counselor for an opinion. jmo pr
  5. VA doesn't usually make appt's unless you apply. If you haven't applied then I believe the VA may have sent the letter in error, by confusing you with another vet, perhaps w/the same name. You do need to be service connected to receive Voc Rehab. pr
  6. I belive the free insurance is only for both 100% and TDIU (P&T) vets. pr
  7. Bhut - do you know if she is a physician, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other mental health professional?? It sounds to me like she was a physician and diagnosing PTSD was out of her expertise. I just had the same thing happen. They sent me to a physician rather than a psychiatric person and she couldn't speculate on my SMC for a PTSD related condition. jmo pr
  8. Chuck75 - if this is your petition your should correct the fourth line from the bottom to read "The only way to stop this" ("was" should be "way") jmo pr
  9. Of course you do. The difference between 70% and 100%. Probably about $1450 a month for a single vet. pr
  10. I agree but would say any day now you should get the letter. From my experience, the deposit usually arrives first. Congrats to you!!! pr
  11. Hollis - before you get scolded, by one of the moderators, for hijacking someone elses post, you may want to move your post and start it under your own title. jmo pr
  12. That's sooooo great carla!!! I, now, use my credit cards for everything and then pay the balance fully each month. It allows me to use the banks money, interest free, for a month, and gives me a thorough tracking of where my money is going. It also keeps the cards active. Again, I'm sooooo happy for you!!! pr
  13. I'm going to agree w/sharon, on this, except that if it could be used toward an SMC "s" award, you might want to pursue it. jmo pr
  14. Thanks Steve & Pat, for this knowledge. Guess they've been screwing me for a yr and a half. Thanks again!! pr
  15. I tend to agree. We'll see what happens. Sure would be sweet, tho! Of course, I don't know what I'd do with myself, with all my claims being done. Maybe apply for a job at the VA? pr
  16. I'm probably the last to find out but Medicare allows one (1) pair of diabetic shoes a yr. Since my deductable is already paid for this yr, I'm going to buy a pair, before the end of the yr. I know VA will do one (1) pair a yr also. Sweet!!! Thought I'd post this in case I wasn't the last to know. pr
  17. Again, I am sooooo happy for ya, girl!!! It's about time! Be smart and don't waste money on a new car. I know it's good for the ego but that feeling passes very, very, quickly, as I can testify too. Besides getting a will, you may want to look into a revokable "living trust." Suze Orman has one free on her website. http://suzeorman.com/ Yeeeehaw!!! pr
  18. Great news, Carla!!! We knew you'd win . . . as we all say here . . . never, ever, ever, give up!!!!!!!! Yeeehaw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pr
  19. carlie, that is great news!!! You so deserve it! If all goes well you'll at least get TDIU now. YeeeeeeeHaw!!!!!!! As you always infer, don't forget to save some of that retro for a rainy period, as it goes quickly. pr
  20. I think there could be a chance you could win, but you would probably need to file a CUE and may need an atty to win. If it were me, I would pursue it. Not sure of your original claim date but 1998 to present is only about 13 yrs. jmo pr
  21. Thanks, all!!! We'll see what happens. At worst, they'll deny it, again, and I'll continue w/my claim. Guess I'll try the optimist route for a change! Thanks, again! pr (aka: Flip)
  22. Hey, NK - Thanks! So far so good. New England is getting an early snow, so I'm glad to be here! Hope you're finding lotsa gold and enjoying your life on the road!!! pr
  23. Thanks, cooter! Yup, I agree. No harm in waiting, that I can see. I don't see that I lose any appeal rights, but I could be missing something, too. Oh well! pr
  24. As many here already know, I have a claim for SMC "s" award, on appeal, from the CAVC, to the BVA to the AMC, at present. The claim was filed in late '99, and would be retro to '89. Last wk I had the C&P exam at my RO. The AMC called stating they are ready to certify it back to the BVA for a decision. She stated that they mailed me the paperwork, along w/a waiver for me to sign, if I had no more evidence and wanted to waive the 30 day period, I could fax it to them. They are ready to move on the claim. I told the woman that I actually wanted an extension, as I wanted to get a new complete copy of my c-file and I wanted to get an IMO, to submit to them, prior to the BVA making a decision. She then asked "if I wanted to do this even if the claim was going to be approved?" I explained "no," if it was going to be approved it would be an unnecessary step/delay. She then spoke to her supervisor and then advised me I could proceed w/my requests. I'm inclined, at this point, to wait and see how they decide. I still have the right to appeal, whatever they decide, but am feeling maybe I've won. Any thoughts would be appreciated. pr
