  1. See My self having a strong case for TDIU. Just trying to figure what to do with my time if I win My Case. My question has more to do with the investment part. I certainly am no carpenter and Would have to pay other people to do the work. I was just wondering my limits and certainly not try to pull the wool of the VA or my doctors eyes.

Almost forgot, if your buddy is 100% due to a mental health condition (like ptsd or depression), than absolutely, if the vet is going to school they will probably try to reduce on the grounds that for MH conditions the veteran is totally occupationally and socially impaired. Not certain if his 100% is due to combined ratings.

It is for Mental Health so I guess that's why he can not go to school. Well that what I figured, but I just wanted to see what others think on this subject. Thanks

  3. Hello, Just wondering what I can do and what I can not do if my TDIU claim is approved. Does property investments count as work? If I buy and fix cheap houses and then sell for a profit would this be allowed or does it count as work. Same question about buying and selling cars for a profit, is this allow. Also I have a buddy that is 100 percent P&T and he claims he not even allowed to take college classes. Is this true? Any body that has input on this topic would be great. Thanks Bill.

  4. Praned1983, Are you being seen by the VA doctors or private. I too have PTSD and was being seen by the VA. Even though it is just their job to treatment it seem like they would word their notes to not help me with a PTSD claim. I ask them to do a DBQ on me and was told they were not allowed. At that point I cancelled my appointment with them and got private doctors to treat me. They have help me a lot and with my PTSD claim too. This was an option for me because I am retired military and I can use my Tricare. If it is an option for you I would recommend see private doctors and not VA doctors. If not you might have to stay with the VA doctors.

All Thanks goes to the one and only Ms Tbird.

the founder and CEO of Hadit, she has helps thousands of veterans like you and me, so every year me and lot of the hadit members try to send her a little something to help keep the hadit site upgraded and running.

She has did this with  her own $$ and for her unselfish ness she ask For nothing in return  so its up to us veterans to show our appreciation by donating to her worthy and most beneficial cause for us Veterans.

    But she don't require it.

    Thanks Again Buddy

Well, I am grateful and realize it cost money to run a website, so I will be giving my financial support.

  6. Hi everyone, I just want to introduce myself. I have been using Hadit for about 3 weeks now. I just want to say thanks to all who make the website happen and to all that go out of their way to help other Vets like me to get the most out of their claim. I have learn a lot since I found this website and will continue to educate me self on all aspects of the claim process. I have already posted several topics and each time have had great people to try to give me the best answers and advice to my question. I am very grateful for that and want say thank you very much for your help.

About me, retired from the Air Defense Branch of the Army In 2008. I am working as a DOD security Guard, but will be losing this job very soon to my PTSD. I am kind of scared and nervous about this. I am 47 years old and it is kind of hard to start over at this age. I tried to go to college but I can not concentrate or stay focus in class. I had to drop to many classes that I finally had to withdraw from college.

Well, Thanks everybody, I will enjoy talk to you on my post or someone else post later in future. Take care, Bill

Wablackwell, I agree, FILE NOW. Just the fact that you have been disqualified from your duties for the past year will help. Do not wait until you are terminated, but I would see if your employers would be willing to provide a statement for VA detailing your difficulties and the fact rhat you will be losing your job. That would help tremendously. Good Luck to you!!

Here the letter my director(GS-14) wrote for me.

yes you do.  I had to do similar.  File for SSDI when you file for OPM disability.  Whether you get approved by SS, you shouldn't as you still work, that is the letter you need to provide OPM as proof for filing, you don't have to be approved for SSDI just have to have an application in.  When you stop working that is the hard date you will use.  The day you stop working, go into the SSA office again and file for SSDI.  It is confusing but, that is the process.

I was going to file for SSDI on line but you think it would be better if I go too the SSA office and File. I still a little confuse why people do not think It matters if I wait until I am not working until I file for my VA claim. It seems that since I lost my job due directly to my PTSD (and I have a letter form my director stating this) that it would show the severity of my disability.

"The VA isn't interested in your job status for the PTSD claim"

I agree with everything except this statement.  It DOES make a difference, it is part of the Rating Criteria for anything falling under the umbrella of Mental Illness.  I still believe you file now for VA and then start looking at SSDI, .possible

It is a requirement that I apply for SSDI when I file for Federal disability Retirement (OPM rules). I guess I have a lot of claims to do.

  10.  Hello, I put in an Intent to file for PTSD last September. I have been waiting to file because of my place of employment. Here is the story, I have been working at White Sands Missile Range now for as a DOD security guard. Over the last year they temporary disqualified me as a security guard due to the severity of my PTSD and assigned me to ADMIN duties. During this time over the last year I have been evaluated by the base doctor and psychologist to see if my condition improves enough to go back to work as A security guard. Well, It has not improved and have now permanently disqualified me from my job as a security guard. They CPOL office searched for an alternative job for me and found nothing in which I am qualified for. I have now been told that I will be losing my job soon. I will be putting in for disability retirement from government service. So back to my question. Should I wait until I have lost my job to file my PTSD claim or should I go ahead and do it now? I feel I will get a higher rating if I wait until I lost my job so I can add that to my Claim. Also do you think I should Apply for TDIU? Appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Thanks

  11. Thanks Broncovet, I do not trust the VA anymore. I though my VA primary care provider was doctor. I though wrong. I later learn she was a physician assistant. Since I am retired from the service I now try to use my Tricare and see non VA doctors. Especially when it come to mental health.

Wablackwell, those are all stressors and by all means, list them in your claims packet. Are you submitting an FDC(fully developed claim), of course I am certain you have the combat badge so you aren't required to provide stressors but listing at least the worst will only help strengthen your claim. Good luck to you!

I will try to do a FDC but I do not know if I need a DBQ from my private psychiatrist for a FDC or not. Since I not SC yet I believe I can not do a for DBQ form 21-0960P-3. I have do the form 21-0960P-4 and this form is only done at the C&P exam. Am I correct on this or Am I mistaken? Thank you.
