Trublusue:

Welcome to Hadit. To get service connected for PTSD you will need a diagnosis that you have PTSD and you will also have to show the VA how you got it the stressor letter. Basically you have to show an incident that would lead to PTSD. It can be one of many things. If you served in combat or were involved in combat than the VA pretty much has to take your word for it. If it is from something else you have to show details that the VA can verify.

You will have some time to develop your claim. Hopefully you can find the ammunition you need here on Hadit.

Sorry about your Dad.

Pete

Any information that you request, from the VA, must have an FOIA form with it. Get familiar with the FOIA obstacle right off the bat. Do not assume anything with the VA.

How is the FOIA and obstacle? It helps you to obtain information in a "timely" manner.

Admittedly, there are enough loopholes to drive an aircraft carrier through. A request letter citing the FOIA is actually enough. Seems that bureaucrats like forms that ask for lots of inapplicable information and have boxes to check that allow them to quibble and avoid making a real decision.

Any information that you request, from the VA, must have an FOIL form with it. Get familiar with the FOIL obstacle right off the bat. Do not assume anything with the VA.

VBA Letter 20-03-11 is rescinded and replaced by this letter."

VBA Letter 20-03-36 is rescinded and replaced by this letter."

and it still goes on today with more and more changes for the OEF/OIF guys and girls, they are vets just like the rest of us, but they deserve no more than the rest of us

While you got your 100% in 15 months it took me over three years to get the a$$h01es to read my claim and SMR which is over 600 pages long and documenting everything under the sun.

I'm not picking on you, or demeaning you, just stating the facts of why you got your claim settled so fast, and I dont think you qualify to give advice on claims

this guy has been trying for 13 years

Got A Question On how I can Get the VA to move Quicker on this claim.

This is what I've done so far. I filed a claim in 1993. It was Denied in 1997 after the NC VA could not locate my medical files from time served in South West Asia. I continued Trying to Locate this missing Records at least once a year. Now after all this time I have received these Records that Clearly state the Accident, day and time - 4 times in the files. I was seen 4 different times for the same thing. I have Reopened the Claim sent these files to my Regional VA Office in Buffalo NY the 1st week of March. Followed by many other statements from Docters and Employers telling the on Going problems I have had. They have received all this and still have not made any move on doing the right thing? The Original Claim was Denied Because of lack of evidence. No medical records from time in service to prove that it was a service connection Injury. This is why it was denied. Would not the missing medical records be all they would need to seal the deal? How can I get them to move on this? I am no lawyer but it sure looks simple. What can I do to get them to move on this? Help!!

Thanks for the help - macool

Betrayed

Its not just OIF or OEF vets that get priorty. I was told when I went to my DRO hearing that all vets discharged after 11 sept 01 have priority. I was in Saudi for OIF but am considered a Vet on the priorty list because us in Saudi were given the original Global War on terrisom medal. I know guys who never serverd a day overseas but got discharged after Sept 11 01 who are going right thru the system
