Is It Worth Pursuing A 5% Increase?

I am 50% SC. I have recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. It's pretty clear in my SMRs that I had this condition for some time, but was never formally diagnosed.

Prior to taking medication (Synthroid) I had cold intolerance, constipation, hair loss, weight gain, etc... After a year of treatment, these problems have cleared up.

If I attempt to get an SC for my Hypothyroidism, the most I probably would be rated is 10% since the medication is working--right?

Is it even worth the bother? 10% plus 50% is 55%. No extra pay. Is there any reason to get this service connected? Or should I save myself the grief and aggravation of dealing with the VA? I'm dreading the thought of IMOs, C&Ps, NODs, etc..

Larry, Larry, Larry, you knuckle head (learned that one from my 1SG days hahahahahahaha, nope did not mean it in that way at all!!!!!! Dang I gotta quit taking meds before I post cause it causes Ron a lot of trouble in having to come along and clean up my messes :o . What I meant, as Ron stated, is it is yours for your service and to try not and think that a disabled vet must simply get it while these idiots in D.C. are being good and simply handing out some form of welfare.

No matter what happens in D.C. we must all take a strong stand and to do so one must always remember why he is a disabled veteran - I do not want us to get into a mental state of thinking that the only way we are going to get our deserved benefits is to lick the hands of some idiot in charge of the purse strings while he is being generous to simply get a few crumbs. If we do this then we as a group of proud Americans simply get reduced to the level of some scum - AND THAT WE ARE NOT! WE ARE PROUD HEREOS OF THIS COUNTRY WHO HAVE GIVEN ALL WHEN ASKED TO DO SO WITHOUT EVER LOOKING BACK.

If we as a group remain proud, stern and demand our earned benefits then they will never go away. Times will change, our lives will go up and down and some of us will think the end is near, however, as long as we maintain our dignity we will always be the best, the most honest and the PROUDEST DAMN AMERICANS in this country.

Sorry you read my post wrong or I simply did not state it well, but let it be known to all and by all that no one that I have ever seen post on this site has ever, and I mean never recommended that a veteran cheat the government out of one red cent. For to do so would be a disgrace to our country and our honor as America's Veterans.

So to all of our past, current and future Hadit members and vistors I in not way intented to infer that Larry had recommend that anyone cheat the system. I just did not want the original poster to take on the ideal that he had to rely on some form of welfare that some politican felt he was handing out. He as all of us have earned all benefits provided by law even if it was only a 2 percent rating.
