Believe me, I checked out Dr Bash before I took out a loan for a couple grand.

Dr Bash is a disabled veteran with Multiple Sclerosis and has over a decade of diagnostic research in diagnosing MS with MRI's at the NIOH. His expertise in diagnosing neurological and spinal disorders interested me the most. I needed to have SMR's and decades of medical records actually read and made since of. Even the honest VA C&P examiners/consultants are not going to do that in the hour or two you get at a C&P.

Last summer I had a VA/PCP accuse me of being dishonest, by paying for an IMO from Dr Bash and sending him and my private Dr treatment records. He refused to recognize the diagnoses for MS and dropped all my pain meds, chewed me out like I tried to go around the Va's back.

He said if the DVA ordered and paid for it, thats different.

My experience with getting an IMO seems to be far from over. I have no suggestions on how to prevent the same type of repercussions once you submit the IMO to the VA. Especially if it comes back with a conflicting medical opinion.

I do know if your not service connected for it, it's not likely you'll see much in the way of care for it.

If he checks out, give him a try before the prices go up.

Dr Bash was worth every dime.

Maybe Dr Barson will be the same for some of us.

Lord knows we need honest accurate IMO's wherever we can get them.

Let's give Dr. Barson a chance before we scare him away.

He did answer my email. I posted it on line, but

I plan on reposting without my phone number since i have received 12 crank calls within 24 hours of posting. I needed that to end.

I am curious as to why you wished to be deleted from the Hadit site. Several of us were interested in you and your post.

I hope he has caller ID in case they call him again-

I think that is disgraceful that he got crank calls-

then again- the internet is not always a safe place to post personal info-

I have been trying to spread the NVLSP BWN request to numerous Navy vet sites-

One Navy forum could not post the message from NVLSP-the same one I posted here-until I removed the phone and fax number for Rick at NVLSP.

I dont think anyone who is a member here would call this doctor with a crank call- there are hundreds of guests who read the posts and maybe the calls were from lurkers who saw his phone number here-

I posted my phone number once here on the old hadit board for a vet with an emergency-and I got deluged with calls-

and even threats-

I hope he returns and I am sure he can understand that we need to assure ourselves who he is-

before anyone starts sending to him their records and other personal stuff-

I dont believe anyone here would stoop so low as to make crank calls-

but many many people who we don't know read these posts everyday.

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

I have checked him and his credentials. We definitely need his help on the board.

He is just like us, innocently placed his telephone number on the site.

If anyone is serious about using his service sent him an email as I did.

He will answer you,

Betty

Maybe, 1 crank made 12 calls. I hope that we can put this to rest and move on.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

While others have checked out his creditals, I haven't. I just went to militry.com and put in his name and it shows him as active.

Can you be active duty and get 10% from the VA? Perhaps the site is out dated.

I still haven't heard from him. Which is a main reason for me to be suspicious--

Betty has he responded to you other than say I got crank calls.

Has he responded to anyone regarding a claim?

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • Do the sct codes help or hurt my disability rating
    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
