If I didnt know the regs I would not have gotten this award-just came in the mail-

The VA is giving me a new Chapter 35 date (I have 38 months of full time training remaining)

I hope they sent my daughter an award to as her eligibility and Certificate for Chapter 35 have expanded too- due to my recent award.

I can elect either the date of Rod's death or May 13th 2009-date of SC death aard to begin CHapter 35 again.

They also referred to the past tuition they paid and said I would receive further info as I frequested refund of tuition I paid after the other eligibility ran out- 6 thousand bucks-

I cant figure out their payment table enclosed with this-

but WOW_ found out this AM that my 530 is in Philadelphia VARO for funeral expense refund.

Slowly but surely they are giving me my benefits- but I had to raise a stink for all this.

If a widow or widower does not know what their benefits are and has a rep who doesnt have a clue the VA will be delighted not to tell them much of anything.

This is incredible news and I know my husband surely is happy for me-and Frances that we have gotten additional Chapter 35 because he died due to his service.

This was not based on NOD or Reconsideration but on a letter that griped -backed up by VA regs and case law- about me getting the worse Award letter I have ever seen.

They can often get away with this crap, We cant allow them to.

Congrats Berta! But it wasn't "griping" that gets you there. It's all the research and hard work you put into it. You've had to work for what was yours by right. But at least you got it.

That's awesome news Berta!  Reading your posts here really has helped me!  I never knew of some of the benefits that were available until I saw some of the things you wrote...I am new here but already feel that this is a good place to be and you help make it that way!
