I think they do evaluations concerning scars relative to the established area which you indicate on your shin, approximate3 inches, and have not indicated the source of the scar, ie shell fragments? Or what? Also with examining the skin one would not, color, skin integrity, tender to touch, any ulceration or inflamation to area, well healed, painful, swelling, keloid formation, depressed or nondepressed, any limitations to function, etc.

I don't know if a shinn scar would relate to some of these parameters but it is dependent on the depth and damage that could have cause afliction to the mucsce or nerve fibers too. They may also see if the area causes itching, rash too. Some cases have documentated a possibility of 10% for a scar less than 4 inches but have other parameters met here to for the awardance.

Have you never applied for TDIU? Or are you able to work? Remember to always use VA match with your additions. Also what % make up your 90%?

www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/benefits/exams/disexm52.htm will give you the scar exam worksheet. I'll search for the reg. in a bit, but someone may have it handy and post before I find it. At least you can look at this now.

I am 40% for my back 10% for scar and 40% for radiuculopathy left leg 40% for radiuculopathy right leg. As for the scar on my left shin the skin is very thin the scar is 3 inches long and about 2 inches wide, The scar was from fragmentation. when i apply pressure down on my foot there is a bubble that pushes out on top of the scar about the size of a walnut, after standing the scar seems to hurt and ache.

Have 12 inch scar on the right arm on upper arm but they pay me for the partial paralysis. I know I was also rated for the scar, but one superceded the other.

I am rated for scars 1 at 0% and two rated at 10% that should not have been rated together the Nod is in on it. They will measure it, ask if it is painful and look at the color of it. 39 sq cm or 12 sq inches is 10% it can also be rated for pain saperate of the difiguring rating. 3 x 2 inches is 6 sq inches will not get an increase. I have one that is 13 inches long 1/2 inch wide and painful and the other is 85 sq cm loss of tissue and painful they combined the two and gave me 10%.
