Almost Arrested At Varo

If the VARO refused to date stamp my material I would be pissed as well. I would probably do just what others have done and demand it. I would ask to see a counselor if the desk person would not do it. If the desk guy refused to let me see the counselor I probably would get escorted off the premises then straight to my congressman. You don't want to raise your voice or threaten them because it gives them the excuse to call security. How difficult is it for a VA employee to make copies of documents and stamp them? Some of these people are lazy jerks, no doubt.

Excellent advice John999. That was my plan "B". Like John999 posted, I would encourage anyone having trouble getting submitted date stamped material from the VARO, to ask the front desk clerk to speak to a rep. Bad habits, like shredding and losing records don't disappear overnight. We have no evidence that the practice has ended at VAROs. It could be worth the wait, to have that date stamped copy in your hand when you leave that place..

Going to the VA is a trigger for me.

The last time I drove 260 miles to take my current claim(s) (yes, Samantha, I STILL have a couple of claims in "the system"), the person there at the counter did not want to make copies, so he told me that the "copy machine is broken", to which I replied:

"Gee, this big ol building and you just got ONE COPIER?"

I had to go to the VAMC yesterday. I had rescheduled the appointment a few times and finally had to make myself just go. What a PTSD trigger... After decades of getting the cold shoulder from an ungrateful nation, along with a chronic apathetic experience from the VA staff workers. I have reached the point where I would prefer not to participate anymore. Still, I'm drawn back by demand. So, I cowboyed up and went. Even the "check engine warning light" came on along the way,LOL. I'm glad I went. It is truly good to get back on the horse, as they say. I made it.

As long as you really don't need what the VA has to offer it is OK to use their services. To use them as a way to document your disabilies is good. I got another notice from my private insurance company that the VA has again billed them for a service connected condition, and they paid. I am going to my congressman to stop this since the VAMC refuses to stop billing my private insurance for SC conditions. Bad enough they harass me about my SC pain disorder, and now they have the nerve to bill my insurance. Damn them! I can get the same care anywhere since I have medicare and Blue Cross. I go just to keep my oar in the water like you. Going will help your PTSD claim I am sure. I think I will just go to a pill mill and stop even using the pain clinic at the VA. I will line up with the junkies and get my dope from the the perscription pill pushers. The VA charges my insurance for all services and I am 100%. Damn them to hell.
