I removed a post a few minutes ago because it was political and might scare people. Opinions are not facts. Cable News is not a credible source neither are blogs or political sites like Drudge or Huffington Post. Left or right not allowed here.

Please be careful about what you post. If you have something from a credible source that better explains what the new Health Care Bill will do to Veterans and that our Members can keep politics out.

Just to be clear anything political is headed to trash and anyone who makes it political is headed for a few days to think about it not being able to Post.

Thanks

As far as cataracts the VA has a strict standard about how blind you have to be before they will fix the cataract. I failed the driver eye test and the VA had said a few months before I was not blind enough in my right eye to get cataract surgery. I would not let them do it anyway. I will use a medicare doctor who has done about 100,000 such surgeries before I let some medical student mess with my eyes. You know there is so much propaganda flying around about the health care bill it is pretty disgusting.

The VA removed one of my catracts in 2007. My other catract is still not bad enought to operate.

I also have a Choroidal Nevus in one of my eyes. They are sending me to specialist to have it photographed again.

I used Medicare to pay for my 1st cataract surgery, but the VA is willing to do the other. I am undecided, it really will depend upon the type of lens they are willing to pay for.

Also, just a guess, but I got the feeling that the VA's decision to do a cataract surgery pretty much depended upon the eye exam guy. Some seem to be more willing? if that makes sense, than others.

Also, while the Health Care bill will impact us... again I must echo others here. Know what you are talking about, and lets not generalize here ok? If it gets out of hand, the thread WILL get closed.

Oh, and I have Medicare A & B, and full VA benefits, and to be honest I am really satisfied with the VA at this point. I have seen literally hundereds of doctors, both civilian and VA and GENERALLY the VA does a really good job with my care. I am often impressed with the care they take. It depends upon the doctor you get, but thats the same in the civilian world as well as the VA. Personally I owuld HATE for the VA health care system to go away and be replaced by medicare - this for me would actually reduce my options.
