St. Louis Va Dental Disease Exposure

Rate this question

Question

OK I received a letter from the St.Louis VA saying " I may have been exposed to Hepatitis B,Hep C & HIV

Letter said to come in & get a blood test if one wants & "Don't worry" as its no big deal problem as someone wasn't cleaning Dental Tools correcttly & you may have been exposed to these diseases

I was at the VA Hospital today & my Daughter called me & told me about the certified letter I had received & what it said

I had a blood test & they said they would have the results in about 2 weeks

Everyone very reassuring that its very unlikely anyone has anything so stay calm

Find article about this below Not sure what is going on but sounds rather serious to me....Was told I could file a claim or a tort claim on this but guess that depends on the blood tests

Also, we're to be retested in 6 months

Does anyone know if it's possible this stuff won't show up in a blood test & one still has it?.....GARY

Lady T,

Do you have a doctor with the credentials that could set up lab orders

for you at a private lab.

Maybe this could be done thru fee basis.

I agree, it sure would be hard for me to trust the results

of the facility - that may have infected me.

IMO - a second opinion, of consistent negative results - from a private lab

should be a requirement in this situation.

I've got all of you in my thoughts.

Saturday July 10, 2010 10:45 AM Notified via Phone from VA that my first blood tests came back negative, thank you Jesus. My second test is this Wednesday I will keep you posted on those results.

Tbird I am so sorry to hear this happening to you and our fellow veterans. This is enough to cause anyone anxiety and PTSD alone. I feel that you were on track with your thinking to get an outside opinion and lab other than the VA. I would. It sure wouldn't hurt. Also I would still request a test a year out. It really depends sometimes on what test they are using when it comes to the results. Some people always show up negative for the ELISA test and then will show positive for the Westen Blot test it just depends on that person's immune system. This sort thing happened in one of the VAMC in Georgia with the colonscopy equipment. That was in the news last year. Well keep the faith it is low probability that you have contracted anything and not have seen any changes in your health. Like a cold that wont give etc. Anyway I will say a prayer for you and others. LET US ALL REMIND OURSELVES THAT WE SHOULD CHERISH EVERY DAY THAT WE HAVE CAUSE WE COULD ALWAYS GET HIT BY A BUS TOMORROW>

Eventually veterans will come to the same conclusion that I came to 10+ years ago. The VA is quietly doing all it can to kill veterans. No other explanation can explain the situation. And I stand firm behind my assertion. Lets not forget what Franklin Roosevelt himself said;

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.

It all started 30 odd years ago when the VA shifted to a purely adversarial system that drives many veterans away from the VA, and some to suicide. In the last few years, the VA has transitioned from killing veterans in a passive-aggressive fashion to open premeditated murder. The VA is doing the medical equivalent of cutting our brake lines. A deliberate act that is almost certain to result in serious injury or death.

If a civilian hospital behaved in the same fashion as the average VA hospital, a sizable percentage of its employees would end up behind bars. But the VA can display flagrant disregard for the lives of thousands of veterans with absolutely no repercussions whatsoever. Quite the opposite in fact, VA managers are actually given a bonus for killing veterans! http://doesitallmatter.wordpress.com/2007/05/02/va-hospital-bonuses-come-despite-poor-patient-care-deaths/

The well-oiled veteran murdering machine known as the Department of Veterans Affairs is now moving towards peak efficiency. Congress and the news media are fully complicit, and the people are too far in debt to care or even peel themselves away from Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire. So you will all forgive me if I am not at all surprised by this story. In fact, if the recent past is any indication, we can expect even more of this insanity. Hell, I would not be shocked if in a few years VA police simply wander the halls of the VAMC executing veterans for sport. Its not like anything will actually happen to them if they did.

Lets review the current tally, shall we?

VA Dr. Mike Swango - murder - 3 confirmed murders, 35 others suspected

VA Nurse Richard Williams - murder - 10 veterans killed, 41 others suspected

VA Nurse Kristen Gilbert - murder - 350 veterans killed (yes, 350)

JMHO...Sorry, I feel this falls closer to the "conspiracy theories", side of the wall of reality.

JMHO... Incompetence, apathy, bureaucracy size, Gov. employment type jobs,.. etc., first comes to my mind

Old age, WWII attrition plays a bigger part in the deaths of S.C. vets,& lowering the compensation & care, than any other dubious plot.

Again,...This is just my humble opinion, aka...JMHO..

Tbird - Thank God for what you've been told, but even so I encourage you to get a second qualified medical opinion Asap. True, I've been 'away' for a few, but back long enough to see that you recieved a letter from St.Louis. Would'ya believe I had just told hubby you got a letter, who got shocked&mad when I said it was "YOU" T'bird. We will continue to hold you in highest regard and prayers for best health possible with Negative test results. My opinion, this is a result of ignorant, stupid, selfish and cold hearted incompetents..

Best to you Tbird and anyone who is affected in any shape from this,

Cg'up!
