HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted September 5, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted September 5, 2011 Ranger Your SSDI benefits depends on your earnings. If you had pretty decent earnings over your working life you should get more than $1000. I worked at the post office for 20 years. I got around $1650 before medicare Part B. My wife had lower earnings so when she hits 62 she will only get around $600 a month. If I only had my SSD and my postal retirement I would be eating more peanut butter and day old bread. With VA and SSDI I do alright.
Rangerwaldo
John or someone else, I just went through my last SS statement and it said if "I were disabled today" my payment would be around $1250 a month. I know SS gives you extra money for your kids. Does anyone out there know the formula they use? Is it somehow based off that $1250? Does Each kid gets a certain percentage? Appreciate any help. HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted September 6, 2011 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted September 6, 2011 They will pay kids half what they pay you till they don't qualify anymore. The kids will split the half till they are 18 or 19 and one month if still in school. The youngest will get the full half after the others don't qualify anymore
