Ssdi And Va Payments?

Rate this question

Question

So I got a permanent password for social security online services and on there it says I will get 816 every 3rd Wen of the month. I get 80% from the VA right now but am at the end of my claim for IU.

1: Can i get SSDI payments and IU or 80% from the VA without them offsetting each other?

2: Does SSDI do back pay? If yes, then will they go to when I filed with them or when I became unable to work?

SSDI and VA benefits do NOT offset each other.

SSDI will give you back pay starting five months after your onset date.

In my case the SSA actually when back for more than a year before I medically retired . I could never figure out why but the back pay was nice..)

I bet :)

They are back dating to five months after the last day I worked is how I am figuring it. Either way 12k roughly will help and then if the VA back dates my IU to when I filed for ptsd that will be at lease 26k. I think since I am awarded SSDI then the VA should grant me IU.

Unfortunately, the VA does things their way, which can be at odds with any rational methodology.

The SSDI award is "positive evidence" to the VA, but they don't automatically agree with it.

When/if a case goes to the VA appeal process, then an SSDI award is usually given much more consideration.

Yeah, the VA can be a bunch of sloths. I never thought I'd get 70% the first time. I guess I got lucky or they just low balled me into 70%. I guess it would be a low ball since I got SSDI approved within 6 months. Like how does 70% VA equal getting approved for SSDI?
