Question

Currently 100% P&T for PTSD. I am still working but, I want to quit soooo bad. Don't know how much more I can take. My Wife (the war department) wants me to work another year and she doesn't understand the stress involved.

Is SSDI more than regular Social Security benefits at 63?

Is there a neeed for a lawyer or is there a free avenue for help?

Total occupational and social impairment, due to such symptoms as: gross impairment in thought processes or communication; persistent delusions or hallucinations; grossly inappropriate behavior; persistent danger of hurting self or others; intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living (including maintenance of minimal personal hygiene); disorientation to time or place; memory loss for names of close relatives, own occupation, or own name 100%

This is for any 100% service connected mental health rating. If you continue to work you can lose your 100% rating or find yourself in trouble.

So now I am scared a bit. Is there an official source that I can ask about this?

I asked at work and was told it is ok to work. I work for the DOE here in WA.

I submitted an IRIS and am waiting for a response.

Actually, you could contact the VA and let them know you are attempting to work. They do this w/TDIU vets and if they are successful for a year, they keep the TDIU until the year is up. To me, it's not worth losing the 100% payment, tax free, plus ChampVA, if you have a spouse. jmo
