Question

Hi all, hope everyone is having a great day. I have a question I'm hope someone could help me answer. I just had an IME done and he. Also completed a BDQ. On the DBQ, he checked the box no for can veteran manage their finances. What does that means once I get service connected? Also the original evaluations's DBQ checked yes in the box for can manage financial affairs. Does anyone know how the rater will look at it... .? One more thing is I notice that he didn't check or put anything in the files viewed area. Will that hurt me, because I heard that the Va like to say that the doctor didn't review my c file. Thanks in advance.

He may have erred but if he checked you can't handle your affairs, that could hold up any award, until they name a fiduciary to handle your funds. You may want to be prepared to fight it or try to name a family member you "trust" to supervise your funds for you. jmo

Does it even matters if two other exams say yes in the box... Also will the VA automatically appoint my wife to handle my finances

Fiduciary appointments are made by the VA, I think you can suggest your wife, but not sure how they make their rules. They proposed it for me and I got an attorney and appealed it and won.

I am writing my memoirs and would love it if you could help a shipmate out and look at it.

I've had a few challenges, perhaps the same as you. I relate them here to demonstrate that we can learn, overcome, and find purpose in life.

The stories can be harrowing to read; they were challenging to live. Remember that each story taught me something I would need once I found my purpose, and my purpose was and is HadIt.com Veterans.

The VA will find you unfit to pay or manage your finances. No big deal bud. The VA and SSA found me unfit to manage finances, so they require that my wife take care of my funds. She just had to sign one piece of paper, and fill out the direct deposit form.

Personally, I think it is a big deal!! A guy in my group's "current wife," (they haven't been married that long) took the $46k retro money from their joint account and gave "his" $46k retro to her two kids, from a previous marriage. Now I think they stay together just to annoy each other!!! I won't mention what I would've done, to her. Sometimes the money is a breaking point in some marriages.

It's best to not have it happen. I agree w/tbird, and suggest you get a lawyer.

If you can handle your money than appeal the decision and show them. Its not rocket science all you have to do is convince someone that once you have the money you can handle it

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.
