Who Does The C&p ?

Question

First, thanks to all of you that have posted and given me advice. Especially Berta & Carlie.

Is the Psych Dr. that I am seeing now, "the first and only", preparing a C&P?

I really don't understand the processes here. After reading through notes that that he has written, mistakes and all, the Q&A's look very similar to what some of you have posted as C&P's.

Is that the way it works or will someone else actually at some point do a C&P?

I'm lost as ever.

I know that I have practically begged for counseling, but so far nothing has happened there.

I know Carlie has suggested that I go to the ER..........ain't happening, I can not be institutionalized and lose my job.

If I lose my job, I have lost my battle and my life.

I guess I am expecting too much too soon! I can't continue on like this.

Good question. It can be a VA Doc, a contract Doc or a Company that the VA uses.

Good Luck

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

I just went through the same process and I can tell you it will NOT be the VA doc you are currently seeing. I am in Texas and they sent me for my C&P exam to another facility. A completely independent examiner. When I got there the examiner was very pleasant and stated this is the first time in her history of doing a C&P exam where the documentation provided by the Vet is better than the documentation from the VA!!!

The exam was about 1-1/2 hours due to the fact that I had a C&P exam for my eating disorder and PTSD/MST. She was thorough and made me feel quite comfortable.

I would suggest you do what I did....Go to the MH Walk-In Clinic and see the intake NP there. It is the first step you NEED to take to get help! Trust me I was scared....My eating disorder is so out of whack she had me go to the ER to have my blood and urine drawn to confirm I was okay otherwise she was admitting me. You need the help and if you don't push yourself to get the help you won't ever get better.

Compensation will mean NOTHING if you are not healthy! Please take heed to this advice as a friendly Vet to Vet - I want you to get help!

If you need care, take a day and go to the ER, where they will send you to mental health. do an intake and probably give you meds. Unless you are an immediate danger to yourself or others, they are not going to hospitalize you. If you've already filed a claim, they will send you a letter explaining what you need to win your claim and eventually schedule a C&P exam, for you, w/a shrink type doctor, that is "not" treating you.

If your using a VA shrink that your PCP put in for that is a general exam...but after you finish it go to medical records and get them(records) to see what ''this' Doc said in his/her report as in a DX's. Read the report! favorable to you or not? if you have used the VA for like ten years or so or more & have medical records personal to make them copies as well...read them!

A C&P is somewhat different, on this exam they try to really confuse you ask trick questions sorta-speak some exaimers will even ask you or say ''I have your c-file I see your here for compensation''? my experince anyway..but just read the report!

Always be polite as you can and answer all questions the best you possibly can, don't try or do things that you don't other wise do they can catch on to it...and it throws your exam right out the window sorta - speak

in my opinion just be yourself and tell the truth and tell about all of your stressors how you can't sleep how you have flashbacks nightmares ect,,ect,,...again tell the truth on all questions and just try to relax, don't let memories cloud your mind it can go either way a lot of it is in body language & the things you volunteer say and the way you speak ect,,them docs can catch all that.

hope some of this helps?

I wish you the best coastie.
