yes your next pay check should be.,,,the VA rated you 100% P&T TD IU means you can't work due to your SC disability's

not sure you won't get a letter in the future for exams or not? but if it said no exams schedule your disability was of nature probably not!

not sure you will have retro? from the date of Dec- 1 -2014?you might want to check that EED out?

you should get your benefits package, chapter 35 for your spouse and children education benefits & medical through champ va, & file for your free life insurance 10.000 paid on you and you can increase it if you choose to but you have to pay the premium's anything over 10.000

also what I love about the benefits is the property tax exemptions .

Lots of other benefits too!

Letters explain your EOB.(Eligibility of Benefits)..& ID card for commissary privilege

check with your state too because some states differ in benefits for veterans.

Congratulations & Enjoy

You are rated 80 percent and paid at the 100 percent rate. This is because your condition keeps you from working. You get most of the 100 percent benefits. I am not sure about spouse DIC if you pass from a condition not service connected. P and T means your condition is static. Don't believe the term no future exams as the VA can examine you at their will.

Most important is to fill out the form every year to report if you have worked to the VA. Not doing so will get you cut quickly.

If your condition worsens or you have another service connectable condition, File the claim. It is in your best interest to drop the IU designator and become rated as scheduler.

Good Job and enjoy the win.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

I agree with jbasser,

Remember to fill out the form 21-4140 ( Employment Questioner ) don't wait for them to send it to ya because it could get lost in the mail system... print the form off the internet print a few extra copies and place in your home VA file.

fill out sign it and send it in every year usually on the date of your Award, be sure and get a return sign receipt.

just send it in around the first of every year.

I think on DIC benefits rather or not your Service Connected depends on the condition or the cause of death they make exceptions for this, service connected or non service connected.

Its totally up to you if you want to request increase to try to up your rating to 100% or beyond.

Congrats. I would do as stated above. Research all the benefits you are entitled to now. I cannot stress enough with the others as well, make sure, absolutely sure that you fill that yearly employment questionnaire out and yes send it green card RRR mail. Give then what they need to leave you alone. Congrats and take care of yourself. FYI Look at your benefits for the state you live in. With the P&T that opens you up to many benefits for you and your family. Take advantage of it and good luck to you. Always grand to wake up and get on here and read about good news.

    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
    • Welcome to hadit!

There are certain rules about community care reimbursement, and I have no idea if you met them or not.  Try reading this:

      https://www.va.gov/resources/getting-emergency-care-at-non-va-facilities/

However, (and I have no idea of knowing whether or not you would likely succeed) Im unsure of why you seem to be so adamant against getting an increase in disability compensation.

When I buy stuff, say at Kroger, or pay bills, I have never had anyone say, "Wait!  Is this money from disability compensation, or did you earn it working at a regular job?"  Not once.  Thus, if you did get an increase, likely you would have no trouble paying this with the increase compensation.

However, there are many false rumors out there that suggest if you apply for an increase, the VA will reduce your benefits instead.

That rumor is false but I do hear people tell Veterans that a lot.  There are strict rules VA has to reduce you and, NOT ONE of those rules have anything to do with applying for an increase.

Yes, the VA can reduce your benefits, but generally only when your condition has "actually improved" under ordinary conditions of life.

Unless you contacted the VA within 72 hours of your medical treatment, you may not be eligible for reimbursement, or at least that is how I read the link, I posted above. Here are SOME of the rules the VA must comply with in order to reduce your compensation benefits:

      https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/38/3.344

    • Good question.

Maybe I can clear it up.

The spouse is eligible for DIC if you die of a SC condition OR any condition if you are P and T for 10 years or more.  (my paraphrase).

      More here:

      Source:

      https://www.va.gov/disability/dependency-indemnity-compensation/

NOTE:   TO PROVE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL LIKELY REQUIRE AN AUTOPSY.  This means if you die of a SC condtion, your spouse would need to do an autopsy to prove cause of death to be from a SC condtiond.    If you were P and T for 10 full years, then the cause of death may not matter so much.
