20% Disabled Id Card?

Question

Hello,

I have searched and searched for an answer to this question but there just doesn't seem to be one out there so I will ask here.

How do I get some kind of ID card proving 20% disability? Everytime I try to use a veterans discount for something they ask for an ID card. I am talking about trivial things of course like discounts at Lowe's for instance.

i would think your va card would work. i know here in florida you can have something put on your drivers license or state id proving you are a veteran. costs a few dolars extra. i don't have because i have a state va card saying i am 100 percent, permanent and total.

Texas has the capability of the VETERAN status on your DL as well...If you are over 50% Disabled in TX you also get reduced registration fees of $3 and handicap plates/placard.

When I get turned down for a discount it reminds me how lucky I am to get them elsewhere and elsewhere is where I shop after that

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Navy, you are correct about Texas putting "VETERAN" on state drivers licenses and ID cards. All you have to do is bring a copy of your DD Form 214 with you when you renew your license, and check mark the block when completing the renewal application. I did this, and received my DL in the mail a few days later complete with "VETERAN" plainly visible on the front. They review your DD Form 214, scan it into their system, and then hand back your original.

I haven't used it to try to obtain discounts yet, but may in the future after reading this topic.
