20% Disabled Id Card?

Rate this question

Question

Hello,

I have searched and searched for an answer to this question but there just doesn't seem to be one out there so I will ask here.

How do I get some kind of ID card proving 20% disability? Everytime I try to use a veterans discount for something they ask for an ID card. I am talking about trivial things of course like discounts at Lowe's for instance.

KTM..

Yea.. go to your VAMC and ask for an ID card. Mine says "service connected" but does not give the percentage for privacy reasons. You can carry an AB8 letter, available on ebenefits (if you have a premium account, which you can get with an in person authentication..ask at your VAMC).

If you are enrolled in VA medical, you need an id card anyway. If you dont go to the doc about your sc conditions, dont be suprised if the VA sends you a letter to try to reduce you. Va benefits are not paid for past pain and suffering...just for current diagnosis and current symptoms.

On the Veterans that are TDIU P&T OR 100% P&T VA sends out a letter usually every year saying what your benefits are and rating. (They may do that for the vets that are under 100% too?)

A VAMC ID Card with S.C. Under your pic should be enough to show your a disable veteran FOR THE DISCOUNTS and every vet that uses the VAMC SHOULD HAVE THAT CARD.

I may take that letter to my DL Office if they put it on there that your a disable veteran and only cost 3 bucks? I didn't know a vet could get Driver License for 3 or 4 bucks...its good to know that.

I get my truck registration @ tax office (License plates) says United States Armed Forces D.V. tags. (3 bucks)

but can't get them for spouse car at that price.

if your a vet rated 30% or more I believe you can get your D.V. Plates & registration too.

point is if you get your auto plates just ask the checker/Manager at Home depot/Lowes to go out and look at your car plates.

if you don't have a ID Card.

License plates vary by state. In my state, you get "one" disabled Veteran plate if you are 100 percent P and T only. You pay full price if you have more than one vehicle. I guess my state thinks we disabled Vets should be so poor, we can/should not be able to afford a SUV, a boat, RV, a four wheeler, a trailer, a motorcycle, or any toys. The only thing we deserve is to go to the doc, and disabled Vets are not allowed to have any fun.

Jerrel,

Do you have a claim/claim's pending?

If not are they any that you can claim secondary to your current disability?

If you do have claims pending I wish you the best and you win your claims.

soon!

My VA ID card just shows service connected and Lows accept it np as well as other places I am at 20%.

Lowe's and HD usually accept military and VA veteran ID's. Has nothing to do with a disability percentage.
