lcplcookba1
Thanks folks, I think I will call my VSO in the am. Does the doctor need to prescribe the bed and bathing modifications??

Gastone
VA Independent Living Program, Chapter 31 under Vocational Rehabilitation Department can get you a $6500.00 1 time grant to upgrade your bathroom. 2 Vets I pushed to it recently had their shower redone. VA IL will send out a Social Worker to look over your house and make an assessment of your needs. You have to use a VA approved contractor for the work. You can also get a number of other items Dependant upon your needs. Lift chairs, special beds ramps, etc. That is separate from the $6500 grant. There isn't a comprehensive list available to Vets put out by the VA. Some IL Councilors are more helpful than others regarding what's available. In years past, a Vet could get a riding lawnmower, not anymore. Do your own due diligence researching what's available. You have to ask for it, just like Comp, VA doesn't come looking for you.
