Question

Hello fellow Vets,

I have been viewing this forum for a while as a guest, but I think it is better to be a member when one is reading so many personal accounts. Otherwise, I'm just a creeper. I am a single mom and caregiver to my own mom. I was on active duty with the USAF for 12 years, separated honorably from Bolling AFB.  DC did me in, but when I separated in 2004, I really did not think that I would ever file a claim for anything because I had no faith in doctors and no time machine to realize that my health problems would get so much worse within the decade. Anyway, I would like to say that I am not in the same boat as a lot of traumatically injured members here, but many friends and family members have encouraged me to file for compensation because they have seen my physical and mental capacities decline (I am only 42).  Everything started while I was in the military, but the docs would blow me off almost every time I went in for answers. Funny, if I wanted drugs, they were more than helpful, but to press for tests to find out what was wrong- nope. You can't tell them anything, either.

I only filed my claim a month ago, and I am already sure I did it wrong or back asswards, so I know I have some time to wait. I look forward to discussions here, and thank you all for your service!

Even grizzlies need a snack.  I catch myself clenching all the time, cuz I feel my teeth being pushed into their sockets.  On really stressful days it feels like I powered my way through a 2 pound package of beef jerky!  As for driving, I'm usually ok, but tailgaters really get to me.  But not like you might think...it's their lack of respect for others.  I dont give them an inch, and usually slow down gadually by reducing my cruise control setting one mph at a time.  They usually pass me once I have them 10 mph or slower from where we started from.  Oh, I should say that this is on the interstate, where they can legally pass when ever they want.

Does the VA offer driving services for the chronically nervous drivers? I could use that myself. My mommy has to drive me to my appointments out of town, and I am 42! Plus, I am not safe to drive at night, so if she needs anything, she drives,  and I go into the store to get it. She calls this "the crippled leading the blind."

Funny thing is, my therapist told me he has issues with being stuck behind slow, or just at the speed limit, drivers! LOL!

I understand the driving thing, really, I do.

I don't believe the VA does, but there MAY be something in your area.  I know here there is a 'service' by volunteers that will take a vet to appointments (medical for sure, but I think others as well) up to twice a month.  I have not used it yet, my 'Mommy' has Lupus and Rheumatoid and I moved her in with us about 2 years ago to help her, now we help each other just like you mentioned.  I can't drive by myself very well, I will end up in jail, I have come close a couple times now, so I know I need an escort now to 'talk me down' from 'educating' my fellow drivers on the consequences of being rude.  You DO NOT want to flip me off!
