Question

I went to C&P exam for my IU, before submitting my claim for IU I was rated 50% PTSD, 50% vision, 30% Migraine and 10%TBI. I had my first C&P for Migraine which lasted 15-20 minutes, and then I had C&P exam for PTSD which took about one hour, 15 minutes she was on her phone talking to one of her patients and then she spend about 20 minutes trying to find my military records on her computer. Then she asked me 3 or 4 times about driving and I told her I don't drive anymore. Of course she didn't mention that on her report. Her other question was when I started service and I gave her my DD214. I also gave her a letter from VOC rehab which says I don't qualify for VOC Rehab because my health problems are too severe and again she didn't mention that. I gave her a DBQ from my neurologist which says I can't work but again she didn't mention anything about it, she just mentioned the medication that I'm taking and then wrote TBI has no effect on my social and occuptional  life.
For PTSD she mentioned the following:

OCCUPATIONAL AND SOCIAL IMPAIRMENT DUE TO MILD OR TRANSIENT SYMPTOMS WHICH DECREASE WORK EFFICIENCY AND ABILITY TO PERFORMOCCUPATIONAL TASKS ONLY DURING PERIODS OF SIGNIFICANT STRESS, OR SYMPTOMS CONTROLLED BY MEDICATION

Of course she didn't mention what every Psychiatrist and Psychogists that I visited the last 3 years wrote about my PTSD (severe PTSD).
I still have vision C&P exam but I don't think this will go well too.
Anyway, from what I red I think my PTSD rating will go down from 50% to 10%, I know some will say C&P is just a part of the claim and it doesn't have total effect on rating, that is WRONG C&P decides what rating you will get and the rater depends totally on what is mentioned in the C&P exam.
My question is this, if I get a PTSD DBQ from outside the VA hospital (since no Psychiatrist in the VA will fill one) will that have any effect on my claim or it is too late now?
Will DBQ filled out by a Psychologist have the same as one filled by Psychiatrist?
Is there anything I can do to help my claim?
Any advice will be highly appreciated

The eye exam is self explanatory, and favorable evidence for you.  Did you file for TDIU listing as your condition "eyes"?

Also, its best not to title your post "need help" or "need advice".  Reason: There must be hundreds of posts with the topic "need help" or "need advice", so we could not find it again if we wanted to.  We know you need help or advice, but if you post some sort of a relevant "topic" then you will attract people to your post with knowledge of your issue.  For example, your post topic could be, "Eye Exam"  or "TDIU based on low vision", or something more relevant and specific than needing help.  Please dont be offended, I am just making a suggestion to try to get you more target specific help.

Its interesting some differences between men and women.  Often, when men ask for help, they are asking for help!  We want some ideas, we are not looking to vent or stuff.  In other words if I complained about how long my claim was taking, I am looking for advice to speed it up, and not, "Gee, that is awful your claim is taking so long.  I bet that is hard for you.  Do you need to vent some more?"

I dont want that.  I want some real ideas such as:

To speed up your claim, try emailing the new undersecretary.  Allison initiated a new program where all claims were to be completed in 2 years.

Or, contact your congress person.

Or, send an IRIS email, contact the VA ombudsman, hire an attorney etc.  We know its awful, and we dont want to vent we want solutions.  This is the difference between men and women.

Dont get me wrong.  When I fall and scratch my knee, I want my mom to "kiss it and make it better".  That always makes it stop hurting and I see the place for that, too.   And, I dont need mom to over react and say, "I will dial 911 and get an ambulance for your knee scrape."

And, I also appreciate encouragement from others.  A lot.  But, mostly men want an idea where they can do something to accomplish the goal.  They are often under the gun from their families who need money for a new trumpet or soccer uniforms we cant give them.

When you want specific answers, then give specifics on the post, including the title.

Manni,  so she was a licensed psychiatrist? Ok, RIGHT AWAY, get an outside doc to fill out your dbq, a professor would be even better as they outrank docs i do believe. (PHD).

I just wanted to point out that this is backwards, for anyone using this info down the road.  A PSYCH MD will always trump a PHD.

Thank you, Talon, I wasn't certain about who trumped whom. My aunt is a registered nurse in Memphis, she told me a Professor would be higher than an MD. I appreciate the correction, i dont want to be giving out wrong info.

I would say your eye C&P is  a good one

There is a possibility the VA will infer you iu if you can't do any type of employment & keep your other conditions the same.

especially if you were trained  as a  computer Tech  its obvious your eye sight keeps you from doing that or any other job

send in  the VocRehab letter if you havn't yet?

if you have not work in the past year send in copies of your w-2  to show you have not work and state your reason you have not work (due to your SC disability )

a lay statement from you detailing how this has effectived your life

just be honest and in your statments  tell them to see Records you supplied from all medical Dr's

some times we need to spoon feed them.

flores97  you can nag all you want to  hey if it works...why not...LOL
