gpound187
I just found out that I don’t pay taxes on my house for the first $ 45,000! Will they go back and pay me the taxes I’ve paid over the last 3 years ?
0 HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted June 9, 2019 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted June 9, 2019 If you were 100% at the time you purchase your home they should unless you failed to tell them you were a 100% sc disabled veteran. IT WILL BE UP TO YOUR COUNTY TAX OFFICE APPEASERS to decided on this , they will have to vote for an approval REFUND. if you just got the 100% then they will probably just go back to that date. The only way to find any of this out is go down to your county tax appraisal office and ask.??
0 Moderator broncovet Posted June 9, 2019 Moderator Share Posted June 9, 2019 That depends on the state/county you live in. My state/ county will not. Like VA benefits, my county says you have to apply. Its not the county's responsibility to make sure you know about and apply for benefits, including tax benefits. Call your county tax office and ask them.
0 vetquest
I got robbed, the VA did not complete my case for ten years and my county does not reimburse for the taxes collected. Another wonderful VA benefit. paulstrgn and GeekySquid
0 paulstrgn
That is sad that the veteran has to lose out on benefits just because the VA was slow to act. vetquest
0 Moderator broncovet Posted June 10, 2019 Moderator Share Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) Vets lose a lot more than "just" tax abatement from VA delays. I lost my home!!! There is also little doubt that at least "some" of the 20 or so Vets who take their own life each day, may not have done so if VA promptly awarded the deserved benefits due to them, making it at least possible to have a "real life" not in desperation/poverty. The VA doesnt seem to "get" that people depend on us Vets..mostly famalies, and we find it exceptionally difficult to admit and that the VA let our familes down, not us.
