Question

I filed for an EED for my SMC K on 6/11/2019 and it was approved on 7/3/2019. So far my cases seem to be moving fairly quickly.

I am not an attorney or an a credited VA rep. These are my personal opinions and experiences, always remember what worked for me may not work for you.

You as the veteran are your own best advocate and no one knows your disabilities better than you. It is highly recommended that you as the veteran research and verify that any opinion given meets your specific situation.

I faxed it in, it took almost 2 1/2 weeks to show up in Vets.gov. It was pretty much straight forward though, there was a system glitch and it did not pick up the date of 2/17/2019, instead it showed as if I had filed in mid May. Once I received the original decision I filled out the forms, printed out the screen shots in eBenefits showing I had started a claim in Feb. So in my opinion it was pretty easy for the VA to fix. It was only a three month EED so we are not talking much money. But I wanted needless to say...lol.

Strange, my claim for ED was filed about 2/28 and is still awaiting decision.  I guess a lot of it is who picks up your case and if they want to clear it or pass the buck.

Icouldn't agree more, Paul.  I firmly believe that we should get every benefit we are entitled to, and it isn't always about the $. You also have to do it because if we don't do it it helps the argument the VA will use that "they have ..., but the veterans don't use it." And then they take it away or reduce it somehow. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I can only assume it is because I live in Virginia and you are in Tennessee, but with that said I thought they moved them to which ever office has the available resources.

I really don't think this matters but I am the type that calls the VA 800# to ask if they received my case and what the status of it is.

And I am...I am one who calls and sends emails as needed to make sure my claim has not fallen through the cracks.

My concern is when I move to Florida will my VA claims slow down since there are so many vets living there?
