Fully Developed Claim Closed then Correcting an Error

Rate this question

Question

 OK, back on September 3 I received a notice that said my Higher Level Review was closed and to expect a letter regarding the decision. After about a week having not received the letter I contacted the 800 number and they said it should be there any day.

Today is September 18 and I looked on the VA website for the phone number again and I saw my status was changed from closed to the VA is correcting an error.

Does anyone have any clue what that means or if that is a good or a bad thing? I’m just looking for opinions or the off chance that someone else has experienced this.

I had the same thing happen. I filed a higher level review and they found an error.  I did get a letter of benefits that explained what the error was. In my case it was a failure of the VA’s duty to assist. They did not pull and review my VA medical records which has both the primary (already compensated for) and the secondary diagnosis (the one I filed the claim for). It says on the website it will take 4-5 months to clear the error and I should receive a new decision letter.

Flyboy7991 The 4-5 is as accurate as the Presidential polls. I have already gotten a new C&P scheduled in less than 30 days. My gut feeling is it will go pretty quickly after my exam. $-5 months is just to cover IMHO.

@Kuwaitin08with my error they ordered 2 new C&P Exams with came back very favorable per my rep and that happened 3 weeks ago. My new claim was closed and approved within 1 week but these 2 appeals are not changing. WTH

@Kuwaitin08

This is the timeline that my HLR took. For my error they did not consider the IMO that I submitted through my private doctor. Once everything was said and done my HLR was approved for my right knee to be secondary to my left knee.
