Looks like more exams for me

Question

Well looks my supplemental information has made it through with my Drs. IMO. Just got the email stating that VES will be reaching out to set up an exam. Last time I had 3 exams all out of state and 1 hour to 2 hours away. 2 were to the same doctor and they had no idea why I was back. Can't wait to see how this one goes. I'm sure i'll have the White House line on speed dial again.

If you have a good rep like your vso/lawyer, they should have access and maybe they can provide you a copy before your exam.

That is what I am lacking. Last time I asked my Rep-VSO had me fill out the Privacy Act request and I am still waiting.

yeah this is very frustrating that you cant simply call the va and request a copy mailed to you. if i can log into healthevet and download labs done last month i should be able to do the same for a C&P exam...it just a matter of someone flipping the right switch to send it...doesnt even have to be for every c&p...just when a vet calls into peggy, they put in the request and have it uploaded to MHV...bingo bango...

or even let the vet get it from the contractor...when i called qtc to ask they said that file is owned by the VA and they arent allowed to give it to anyone- i said its my record...how is that legal?

my lawyer emails mine to me...vso can do the same if they arent jerks about it

So I figured I'd give everyone an update. It works as records for me as well. I got an email over the weekend from VES. They never called me but they did set up an appointment for me on the 21st. Get this. The appointment is in Connecticut and I live in NH. The address given can't be found. The Dr. given can't be found with their spelling but I did find a Dr. with the same name and spelt differently in Staten Island NY. Exam time is 1:30 AM. The whole thing is messed up and doesn't seem right. Have scammers been trying to get people this way?

Obviously, something is wrong somewhere.  While I admit its difficult to find the phone number, especially given the spelling problem you mentioned, it sounds like you have homework to do, no matter what.

Start by calling your VSO and ask him.  If he is clueless, like many VSO's, then call or go to your VAMC, or VARO.  Keep calling until you get an answer.

My favorite place to get an answer is at the directors office in your VAMC..they seem to know their way around.  I rarely call there, but instead go there, as its not far for me, and almost easier than 15 confusing menu items on the phone.

While I am convinced VA does "not" want vets to know what is going on, Im equally convinced you can overcome this and find out anyway "provided that" you find the right "Veteran friendly" VA employee.

I used to know the Veteran friendly employee at my VAMC, and she could fix almost any problem.  Unfortunately, she retired and no one even seems to know who replaced her, or if anyone did.

She had been at the VA for decades, and knew that hosptial inside and out..and knew if there was a flea on a mouse in that hosptital that did not belong there.  She knew every department, and who to call, and, of course she had computer access to my records, as well as could make appointments at any department. Oh, and she was friends with everyone, so she could get appointments when no one else bothered.   She had solved my and other Vets problems for decades and just knew her job inside out.  Try to find one like her, there may well be one in your VAMC.

We have a gal in our church who is the same way.  She knows who is in the hospital, who is getting a divorce, and who is gone and why.  She is not a gossip, tho.  Stay away from gossips.  She was very matter of fact:  Oh, that person is in the hospital..they are supposed to get out on Wednesday, if the doctor approves...kind of a thing.  Never any stuff like, "Oh, I saw her hubby's car at the bar last night and he left with another woman"..kind of stuff.

That is the kind you need at the VA hospital.  Not the gossips.

Bronco I agree. I plan to go there today. Its a little more difficult for me because I can't use the phone unless its text and none of the places want to text or email me. I did send a copy to my DAV rep. this morning to find out if its legit but I'll probably get an answer quicker by going directly to the VAMC. It just seems sketchy with all the wrong things on the paperwork to be a professional company but at this point it wouldn't surprise me.
