Question

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to respond to that article or not, so please correct me if I'm in the wrong spot.
While I'm sure this rater had the best intentions in posting this note and was attempting to be helpful, certain parts of that note were very disturbing to me. Specifically, you should all be sure to file any claim that has merit as soon as possible regardless of whether or not you have a pending claim for benefits at that time. You could potentially be throwing away a lot of money by following this adjudicator's advice. Another thing is that while the VA does not require a medical release to obtain VA treatment records, they have to know they are out there to go ahead and obtain them. It doesn't matter if this is on a medical release document or other form as long as the information is there for them.
Lastly, I think a significant problem is identified towards the end when he/she admits to working claims based on the degree of difficulty and not based on the age or nature of the claim. This is a biproduct of production standards to reduce the pending backlog of claims and ultimately is not fair to veterans with a more complex or severe disability picture than someone with say hearing loss and tinnitus. I don't know what can be done about this, but it really should not be this way.
