ptsd Confused On My Disability Rate %
I am a Gulf War Veteran (USMC) 1986-1991. I am also S/C 30% disability for asthma. I originally put my claim in for asthma, allegric rhinitis and ptsd back in 1998. It was denied for allegric rhinitis and ptsd. I just recently put in a claim for PTSD again and an increase on my asthma because it has worsen over time with more prescripition medication and immuntherapy. These symptoms along with many others that has developed over time was due to the burning oil fields, the hazards airborne particles and the burn pits near our unit. These were just the common elements being exposed to in Kuwait. I recently had a C&P evaluation on my asthma and that went pretty well.…

Filed For Iu. Old Standard Or New Standard?
I am 90% SC'd. I recently filed for IU and the VA has ordered new C&P exams for all of my SC conditions. None of my SC conditions have gotten any better. My question is "which standard" is used to rate me now? I was rated back in 2003 and one of the standards that applies to me has since changed. I know that any time a veteran files a claim, especially for IU, that the veteran can either be reduced, kept at the same level or increased. So, I knew what I was getting into when I filed for IU. So, original standard or new standard? Thanks, TV

ptsd Denied Service Connection For Sleep Apnea, And Neck Pain.
While I was in the Navy I recieved a CAT scan for waking headaches. I have no PTSD didn't see combat. Several years after being out a Doctor sent me for a sleep study and I have sleep apnea. I got a cpap so I read about having waking headaches as a major symptom of sleep apnea. I have 30% for migraines already and still get waking headaches so i applied for the rating. I was denied as not a record of sleeping issues while in service. My neurologist says it is possible to overlook sleep apnea as the symptoms overlap migraines. I was also denied neck pain and issues even though xrays show deformity. Neck pain is a major symptom of migraines and some Doctors belie…

Secondary Injury Question?
I finally got my VA rating. 40% right arm (shoulder) and 10% Tinatius of ears a total of 50%. My right arm is my primary arm but I use my left arm since my right arm is pretty useless. I filled for my left arm since I have to use that arm primarily carry items and just daily life tasks. It gets overworked and is sore a lot. It does not have great range of motion as well. Probably at 45-60 degrees. My left arm claim still shows : Further Information Needed. My questions: 1) What claims should I file for my secondary injury? 2) What documents should I gather? The right arm was obvious as I had a line of duty injury memo. I figured the VA see the right arm…

hypertension Coronary Artery Disease Secondary To Hypertension - No So Fast
I filed a claim for CAD secondary to HTN. I had my C & P on June 5th and I received my copy via release of information yesterday. My question is I thought CAD secondary to sc HTn was a slam dunk. The write up from the C&P doctor states: While HTN is a risk factor for CAD, the veteran also has other risk factors including male age over 45 years old, family history of heart disease, prior cigareete smoking (quit in 1997) and low HDL in 2002. Also accoding to UP to DATE: obesity and weight gain promotes or aggravates all the atherogenic risk factors and physical activity worsens some to them. predisposing subjects of all ages to CHD events. Given the preponerance of …

Acceptable Wait Time For Large Retroactive Pay?
I was seeing if I could get some advice/insight as to what I should do about my problem. I retired after 24 years in September 2013 with my final discharge date being October 31st 2013. Unfortunately I received some bad advice, in my opinion, and did not file my disability claim until in November 2013. It seemed to go on track for the next few months until it got hung up in a review status and stayed that way until November 2014. At that time they requested I get re-examined. They reason they gave me was because it had been over a year since I retired so there might be additional issues to be listed on the claim. After the additional paperwork was submitted everything…
