fwd from: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VetMailingList Report: VA Misses Symptoms in Some Exams Associated Press | October 15, 2005 WASHINGTON - The Veterans Affairs Department doesn't consider some necessary medical factors in about one in five of its most common types of exams, congressional investigators said in a report released Friday. Still, the department has improved considerably since 2002, when 61 percent of its reports from joint and spine impairment exams were insufficient for regional offices to judge veterans' benefit eligibility. Now 22 percent of the reports are inadequate for case reviews, concluded an investigation by the Government Account…

Time For Ro's And So's To Be Responsible For Actions. 1 2

After reading allot of posts on Hadit forums I am apalled at the level of ignorance and beligerance these rating officers have in adjudicating veterans claims. The veteran has to put up with mistakes and sometimes just plain abuse from these people who think they know it all. What really hit me hard was Bertas post about sending a deceased person for a C and P. That was the last straw. I have asked My Congressman to help. What do we need to do as veterans, Americans and Tax payers to get this problem solved?. The first thing I can think of is to pressure congress to remove the protection for these people and let them stand responsible for their own actions. I want to …

Does anyone have any experience with the VA treating serious conditions in a timely manner? Fluid from my brain is leaking into my ear and then down my throat, undiagnosed from a '91 head injury that is as yet unrated. This has a high potential for menengitus and thus requires emergency surgury when found. After 14 years I worry less about that as I do the fluctuations in cranial pressure causing further damage to my already challenged brain. Not to mention the undenieable proof to my C&P claim. I have been told for 14 years that nothing is wrong with me except depression. I can't really go outside the VA as I have been unable to work for some time. Time

Depression is a odd thing, If you are really depressed or deeply depressed you cant do a dam thing. Supposedly to see a Psych Doc you have to wait for several months? Every Doc I see says I need antidepression drugs, the Last one was a Hepatoligist at the Local University Hospital! I asked him If he could go to my VA doc to get the Script there as it wont cost me more than copay? Va doc says I should not take this med because it can cause problems with sleep and I already have that problem! The Local psycholigist for the Transplant Team Psych chewed me out because the "jerk" I saw at the VA was incompetent and only wanted me to quit smoking! I dont smoke at all? The More…

Howdy Comrades, I'm back. Actually never left. Everyone is different so don't take any of this as medical advise. The problem, Fibromyalgia and PTSD and Osgood-Schlauters and everything that comes with those different disorders. Except for female problems. Let's start with PTSD. This does some weird and terrible things to your body, mostly endocrine stuff. Fibromyalgia is a secondary syndrome that takes off after a stressful event. PTSD begetts Fibromyalgia. All of the extra war hormones running around inside the body throws everything outa wack. Let's talk thyroid. The thyroid gland gets input that adjusts the output from a brain place, kinda …

I just completed a month of Cardio Rehab after having a heart attack. Surgery and Rehab was at a civilian hospital and thanks to SSDI Medicare covered the bill. At this final Rehab session I was given a form to fill out (SF 36), a 36 question survey with things like "How far can you walk - one mile, one block?" or "do you have difficulty bending, kneeling or stooping" and "have you felt downhearted and blue?" I hope it was just some kind of exit questionnaire, but I worry that the form could get sent to SS and be used as some kind of disability evaluation. All in all, I think my responses indicate my limited ambulation, physical abilities and mental delema - but I am wor…
