ptsd Opinions Needed From
This AM the post by Tim re PTSD and heart disease caused me to think abut one of my claims that I seem to forget. Does this make sense- Rod's Sec 1151 claimed PTSD malpractce as well as possibly heart disease and strokes-malpracticed against him that could"eventually cause my death." His words- awarded posthumously by VA- by their statement that " Multiple Deviations in a usual standard of care had occurred and all of these deviations hastened the veteran's death." Sec 1151 award letter. He claimed the PTSD was malpracticed for many reasons- substantial ones with merit and also said to me before he died that, in essense-His SC PTSD had put him into harm's way …

diabetes Over 6 Years Old
The figures may have changed slightly but the same problems continue. http://www1.va.gov/opa/feature/Speeches/docs/dec00ss.pdf A SNAPSHOT OF VA COMPENSATION AND PENSION JOSEPH THOMPSON, VA UNDER SECRETARY FOR BENEFITS PRESENTED AT THE VA EX-PRISONER OF WAR ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING DETROIT, MICHIGAN December 4, 2000 An interesting feature of compensation and pension is how long people have been in military service who are filing claims. Those with three years or less service constitute 27 percent of our claims. Those with 20-plus years constitute 38 percent of our claims. Now many of you may not understand this, but if you retire fr…

Went For Ao Registry Exam
I went yesterday and a doctor asked me questions regarding my health, meds I`m on and what ails me. I then was given a urine test and 8 vials of blood draw and gone. Nothing to it. I go soon to be assigned a primary doc. Can I be given or set up for prescriptions I`m on at that time? Also, can I be reimbursed for all prescriptions I have paid for since my disability was rated? Clothing Allowance
Just was issued two braces for my left leg. Once custom made inside the shoe type and one that attaches to the shoe with metal rods. These will support my ankle and carry the viberations from when my foot strikes the ground to my leg just below my knee which will allow me to tell when my foot hits the ground which will allow me to walk more securely without having to watch my stupid foot while walking. Will I qualify for the clothing allowance? If I do will it be paid upon approval or do you have to wait until the next yearly payments are made by the VA. I think I remember you guys stating that it is paid in August if I recall correctly. This is not a political …

Iu Form
Trying to fill out the form for IU and need some help. My husband(VA employee) was told to leave his job on teh 9th. He had a fitness for duty exam, and the pych dr. wrote he was unfit(which he is 50% for depression), he was forced to use this week as a vacation week, which is all the time he had left. He had put in for an increase in Jan. and is scheduled for C&P the 24th, he also put in for heart disease secondary. They sent him the letter about having more papers to submit or not, as well as the IU form. We don't know why they sent that at this time because he did not put in for IU. Question.....on the IU form where it says last day worked.....does he put the 9t…

ptsd Appeal Or New Claim?
As you already know from my recent post in Success Stories, I was awarded 10% for PTSD this month with retro to May 05 . My question is this: I have an implanted ICD/Pacemaker which was put in last year due to heart disease. I have read that PTSD causes heart disease, should I file a new claim for heart disease (which will no doubt give me 100% TDIU per CFR, if I can provide nexus) or, should I appeal the 10% PTSD award for a higher rating and hope they give me 50%, then file for TDIU? How can I provide nexus with heart disease/military service? That is the main question. I'm currently 10% Tinnitus, 10% PTSD, 20% Cervical Spine, 20% DDD - VA math = 50% Th…

Accrued Benefits
I am thinking that I should at least get my initial DIC claim in in the near future -- so I can start the process that will take some time. My husband had a claim pending for lung cancer at the time of his death (from lung cancer) But it says that the DIC application is also an application for accrued benefits. So that will take into account his lung cancer claim. If it is awared - then I would get DIC and accrued for that. However, there were also a couple of other claims that we were going to try to process: 1. His right shoulder -- which was claimed at retirement and denied because his SMRS did not show an incident that would have caused it. (Claim based…
