Help And Advice Needed
This is my first time posting in the forums, but I have used it to get some very good advise over the past couple of years. Now, I need to see if someone can help me. After they denied my initial claim, I was granted SC @ 30% for my left ankle condition, but, they subtracted 10% for PTS disability of 10%, so they assigned me 20%. I do understand the law covering this, but I had no disability PTS. I did break my leg 14 years PTS, and that is what they are calling my 10% PTS disability. It was well healed, no waiver was required, I played sports, and there was no problems with it until AFTER I joined. What ever happened to the "presumption of soundness"? So, if you listen t…

ptsd Ptsd 100% P & T Incompetant Veteran
Hello, My brother was awarded PTSD 100% P & T disability this year. He was diagnosed incompetant in 2002. He is now asking if he can be proven competant to manage his money and not be told how to spend it by VA. Would it affect his rating? Is this possible and if so, can anyone advise how to go about it. Thanks

ptsd Depression
I saw a ad on TV were you can take a test for depression on the WebMD web-site. Very interesting test, and according to it, I may need to be checked by my doctor for Bi-Polar. I'm already on Celexa for depression, and I just took the test for the heck of it. Is there any connection between PTSD and depression? Papa

C&p Exam Questions
I had a C&P exam on November 30 2009, os a few days ago. My first one was done in Novemeber 2006. How often do they do C&P exams? Also, the mental health counselor I see asked if it was a P&T ( I hope thats sounds right), how do I know if it was a P&T? Do I have to request P&T or do they automatically do one? Sorry so many questions, I am so confused about this. I do appreciate all information I get form this web site. You guys are very helpful, Thank you very much.

ptsd Denied Tdiu At Dro
I was, as the title indicated, denied TDIU at the DRO level. In the decisions, it stated that my symptoms fit the diagnosis of PTSD too closely. They did uphold a previous decision rating me at 70% for PTSD, but basically called me a liar. I wrote letters, got my commanders backing, and everything I could to stay in the Army. The Army decided that I do not meet the standards to stay in, but the VA is undercuting my rating. If I am disabled, rate me correctly. If I am not disabled, let me stay in! What should I do now? I have already submitted a doctors statement that says "unemployable due to severe PTSD", My award letter from SSDI showing that it was for PTSD. I'm not su…

ptsd New Ptsd Claim
I posted this in another forum, no response, so I figured i'd post here too. I'm going this week to file a PTSD claim. I was never treated for anything while on active duty. What all do i need to get the ball rolling, DD-214 and what else? I also want to file for TBI and tinnitus, but PTSD is my main concern. Do i file them all at the same time i'm guessing?

ptsd Concerned. Need Help And Advice
I was rated 30% for PTSD several months ago. I thought that the VA would contact me for some type of treatment plan, but have heard nothing. I'm nervous about doing something or not doing something without the VA knowing about it. Would going to a Vet Center be a wise move, and do I need the VA's approval? I did put in for VA medical care, but I know I will be denied as I make too much money. My personal doctor has me on Celexa for depression, but it is not helping. Propanaolol for my nerves and shaking. They are not really helping. I was at a meeting last week briefing some 06s and above. My hands started to shake and coffee went everywhere. That was so embrass…

ptsd Ptsd & C&p
I have been diagnosed with PSTD and MDD. I have talked to several Vietnam Era vets who have told me to write a stressor letter and to get buddy letters. I find this very difficult to write, because I have a tough time just trying not to think of the past. Honestly, my life has been a living hell the last 3-4 years. I remember how I used to be, and I look at myself now. I did a complete 180, and now I'm very much a recluse. I don't go see anyone, and I don't want anyone to come and see me. I have pretty much gotten rid of everyone I associated with. I don't go anywhere hardly without carying my weapon. I just literallyfeel vulnerable and naked without it. My mom says I ju…

ptsd Hearing For Increase In Compensation
I am scheduled for a C&P evaluation for rating purposes tomorrow at the VARO, Bay Pines, FL. Currently I am at 30% for PTSD. Things have gotten worse and I applied for an increase in compensation. What can I expect- will I be reexamined by another psychiatrist or will I see a hearing officer? My American Legion rep said it is possible to lose my compensation and I am very afraid I might somehow say the wrong thing.

ptsd Cognitive Processing Therapy
I am working on my CPT. Just started. What jumps out on me is the differential from an assertiveness person, to a person that is afraid. what I see is a pattern from 1991. Imagine being borne and grew up in a town, going back to bury a love one, and feeling venerable because I don't have my weapon with me. Now I substituted that for my schutzhund; at the same time I had to sell my puppy due to my disability. Even thou I know it is impossible to trian a dog, my mind is still looking for that protection with two dogs this time. What is the draw back for been too long on my CPT, Cause I have Issues. Anyone has any more advice? I read somewhere were an attack in battle is jus…
