  2. kim many of us have been where you are and you are not alone. you probably with see two docs one for physical problems and one for mental evaluation. that's how it went for me. do take your husband if at all possible it should help your anxiety. don't be afraid to them the truth of what life is like for you. don't try and soldier up, you are wounded there is no shame in that.
  3. i find it extraordinary that they take so long to grant a claim, the retro gets that high, it just annoys me.
  4. this link may help them http://www.hadit.com/Articles_VA_Claims/p2_articleid/13 this a link to vike's self help guide
  5. tough topic is ther a time served preference or prejudice, i've seen it, is it valid, it depends i've heard so many stories and views on this if you are hurt in boot camp most folks i talk to seem thats valid, if you are discharged in boot camp because you are not compatible with the service, or pop bad in the piss test, then most foks i talk to seem to think that's not valid. there is the legal question what constitutes a veteran entitled to the all the benefits desginated. the law defines this and as individuals and as groups we can try influence the congress to try and change that definition if that is what we see fit to do. then there is the emotional question, what we ourselves feel about who is a veteran and that is a very individual thing based on own experience with other veterans, our own personal expierence and a variety of other factors. for the purposes of assisting veterans with their claims if they meet the legal requirements then they have a valid claim, that's the legal part, now if you feel that veteran is not deserving then you don't have to assist them, that's your decision. however, do not tear that veteran down, make your decision and move on. we all do what we can here to assist each other, all this is done for free, all of you come here on your own time and dedicate your time on your own dime. just remember to clarify the legal questions from the emotional ones. i say this because i believe the government loves to divide us, it makes us weaker, when we start dividing and fighting against each other well it's not going to get us very far. just so you know us navy 8 years - tbird
  6. i'm afraid i don't have any adivce, but i did want to send you my support. this must be a very painful experience for you. keep up with your meds and your therapy, if you aren't in therapy you may want to call your local veterans center and see if there is someone you can see just to get you through this tough period. hang in brother
  7. i've seen this also, this brings up a good point to remember if you are totally disabled for over 6 months and the doctor doesn't expect you to improve enough to be able to work. apply for social security, so many veterans wait - personally i couldn't do the paperwork i was in pretty bad shape i let them sit in a drawer for over a year before a friend found out and took me through it step by step, i got my social security pretty quickly the first time, but i did loose about a years worth of pay.
  8. has there been a discussion yet on unemployability vs 100% that seems like it might be a good topic. i think a show or two on the wounded warrior act migt be helpful

  13. thanks ricky that is a good idea and i will take it under advisement and give it some thought.
  14. congratulations now don't you worry about hadit.com we are fine just get yourself settled.
  15. jay you clearly state that you advise lying flat out lying on your claim. we cannot allow this jay i cannot in good conscious allow this to stand. this is beyond the pale for me and am sorry to loose you, but you when you advocate lying you are no longer welcome
  16. for the time being editing and deleting posts has been turned off. if you make a mistake in your post just make a new post with the correction.
  17. i am asking everyone to take 3 steps back. calm down - put whoever you need on your ignore list and come back to the board ready to work. i ask the members and the moderators to remember that the moderators are here to help guide the board. i ask the moderators to remember to always deal with things in professional and calm manner. just so we are clear i make mistatkes, i am one of you and right now my health is a bit on the shaky side nothing to worry about i just have not been able to be on top of everything in the way i would like to. it is clear to me that moderators are a good idea but that we need a better way to do it and communicate clearly to the members and i will take this into condsideration and see what good solutions will be. tbird
  18. i do not recommend folks to lie or file false claims that just hurts eveyone else. please try and keep the discussions civil my health is not so good right now and i know you what more of a response from me but this is all i have for now
  19. i stand by the moderators and believe they do follow the guidelines and i see the back end moderators are very concerned about following the guidelines and keeping this a peaceful enviroment for sharing knowledge, all moderators struggle with making a call on a post and they all give the veteran the benefit of the doubt. you don't have to believe me i know it is true. i am the one that has been running this site for 10 years if they doesn't give me more credibility than a new user i just don't know what to tell you all.
  20. well what can i say about this...i understand sixthscents frustration, this claim just seems like a non starter before you even get to the transgendered issue, which will i almost sure not be easy to separate from anything that may have happened in service, then you got the personality disorder and that's a non starter. it sounds like she is struggling and i hope you continue to support her, but really if she lied on the enlistment contract and then wants to say that service caused her pre existing condition to get worse, a pre existing condition she lied about then i mean what are we suppose to tell you. if you have a valid claim we can assist with regulations laws manuals interpertations research, but you have to have a valid claim. not one we think is valid one that the va thinks is valid don't get mad at us we go by the book they use because it's the only way to win.
  21. a moderator will pm you and let you know your post has been moderated, we are human and do mess up so if you see a post go away and haven't gotten a pm from a moderator it wouldn't hurt to contact anyone on the mod team to track it down.
  22. this is why insulting each other gets us nowhere. we lose good advocates. if you are new or been here since the beginning be mindful of your manners and be civil. disagreements will happen but bs will not be tolerated. for goodness sakes, you for the most part, are military men and women to ask you to be civil to each other shouldn't be to much.
