  1. keep in mind by the time a veteran finds hadit.com they have probably had some bad expeirences with the VA and perhaps a VSO. i always think it's a good idea to get a service rep and run your claim through them, but that's just me. donations, that is a totally personal decision and no one should ever feel pressured to make a donation to any organization. me personally i can't do individual claims help, but i can do this website so that is what i do. we very lucky to have so many great folks who come here and give their time and support to each other.

Tbird The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 2000 registered users, with an average of about 100 posts per day. Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary. There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption we discourage this by requiring a valid ISP email address when you register. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. 12. Link to site The landmark federal GI Bill has provided education benefits to veterans since 1944. Today, every state offers some sort of tuition benefit for members of its National Guard units. But with more Guard members deployed to combat zones since 9/11, many state legislators are looking for ways to help them and other recent veterans. State benefits typically are available only to those attending state-supported institutions and who meet certain academic requirements. Highlights of recent developments:
  13. From the Federal Register here's the link SUMMARY: As required by law, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hereby gives notice that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, under the authority granted by the Persian Gulf War Veterans Act of 1998, Public Law 105-277, title XVI, 112 Stat. 2681-742 through 2681-749 (codified at 38 U.S.C. 1118), has determined not to establish a presumption of service connection at this time, based on exposure to insecticides or solvents during service in the Persian Gulf during the Persian Gulf War, for any of the diseases, illnesses, or health effects discussed in the February 18, 2003, report of the National Academy of Sciences, titled ``Gulf War and Health, Volume 2. Insecticides and Solvents.'' This determination does not in any way preclude VA from granting service connection for any disease, including those specifically discussed in this notice, nor does it change any existing rights or procedures. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: David Barrans, Attorney, Office of the General Counsel, Department of Veterans Affairs, 810 Vermont Avenue, NW., Washington, DC 20420, telephone (202) 273-6332.

Anything a Moderator find to be erroneous is subject to review and deletion. Flames will be deleted. Personal attacks will be deleted. Political topics will be removed. Do's and Don'ts for your compensation and pension article I think you will find this article very helpful Schedule for Rating Disabilities This the law what disability and degree of disability gets which percentage Calculate your Service Connected % This is on line calculator that uses VA math to arrive at a total disability percentage. Because in VA math 50 + 50 ain't 100 VA Historical Compensation Rates Use this to help figure out your retro pay if any. Establishing Service Connection Another good article That should get you started.
  20. i am very familiar with this dilemma, i was all about work it was how i defined myself, it's where i got my satisfaction and my self worth...then nothing to do or that i could do it was devastating to me. took me many years to find what works for me. i started this site because i was sick of the va runaround and felt i could make a difference. i have to keep my mind very occupied, so the site helps with that, reading, and other stuff helps, trying out new hobby's - volunteering outside the house is a no go situation for me so that is out, but i do my small part here. before my sister retired i told her it would be work filling her days, everyone just like at me like i was nuts, which admittedly i am , but after a few years she told me it is really tough filling her days. i get up every morning between 4 - 6 am make my coffee and go to the office and start working, my office in house, i have to get up every day and do at least one thing for the site. it's part of my therapy, then i have those times where i become disconnected and disassociated to a degree, could last a day, an hour, a week, a month those are tougher times and when i come out them it takes me awhile to get back on the horse, but i do get back on, and then later i fall off again, and the whole thing repeats itself, but hey it's a system B)
