  1. Arch, I HEAR YA! This d--n thing just makes the noice louder! Take care, Stillhere
  2. I just got the copy of my complete c-file and health records from the RO. In it was my request for hearing loss from 1983 it also had my one sentence denial letter. After reviewing my health records they appear to show that I infact did have some hearing loss start while I was in service but the statement "satisfactory for VA purposes" anyone ever heard of that? Also I am now having a very hard time hearing or should I say understanding even with my aids. I was wondering if I should take these records in and have my VA audiologist that I have now go over them and see what they say? I would really like to reopen this claim because I do believe that this really started while i was in service. Thanks for all your replys, Stillhere
  3. Will, Just received my c-file the other day after requesting ALL my records and health records used to make a decision on my claims. It has all my medical records from back when I was on active duty and all the c&p's since. Pretty complete and in actually very good order. Stilhere
  4. I am still waiting for a copy of my c-file. They, iris said I should hear something by Jan 15th 2008 if not give them a call. First put in for this Nov.8th guess they all took off with congress!! Merry Christmas to all!! Stillhere
  5. I just got an answer after waiting 10 days!! Stillhere
  6. Thanks Namvet for a very good and complete post. I get the point that if it is not in my dd-214 or any of my records just let it drop. I know what I did back then and a couple of my buddies I have stayed in touch with also know what they did. I am sure other vets of Nam went through the same things as me if not more. Hell we had one guy in our support unit who took to patrol so well he tranferred to an infantry unit. Thanks to all, Stillhere
  7. neither why? Just asking a question looking for and answer? and wanting to be rated fairly. I served in a combat zone received combat pay and did some things out of my MOS to secure my post. Do you have a problem with that B) Stillhere
  8. So back to my original question in my case would I benefit from filing for combat status? Or is this even anything that you actually do. I would appreciate the feedback. Stillhere
  9. Very interesting discussion and thanks to all for the responses. I will get back to this later now I am going to eat some turkey! HAPPY THANKSGIVING! TO ALL, Stillhere
  10. Thanks Stretch I did a search for this on hadit under Vietnam combat vet, and definition of and not much came up. Anyhow your post of the info was pretty much what I was looking for so thank you again. Stillhere
  11. hey Berta, I twice took enemy fire that I remmember once in tower #4 and once doing a run to Freedom Hill. Took a round in the driver door panel of a duece and a half (I was driving!) Anyhow I got combat pay when I was there as we all did just wondered how and what benefit is there for the insignia of comabt vet? Take care, Stillhere
  12. This is mainly just a curiosity of mine. As many of my fellow Vietnam vets knows, when we landed in the land of the devil back in the 60's quite a few of us served in support units. I served in Red Beach and as luck had it did not even make it to my duty station for over 4 weeks serving in Long Bein 99th Replacement doing guard duty,KP and the like. Anyhow once I did get sent up to my unit I did not work in my MOS due to there were already 3 position filled and one did not open for 4 months. During those 4 months I just sat around going to the PX, Beach and the USO. Yeah right! Actually I pulled perimeter patrol duty (so I could drink during the day) and when I wasn't doing that I pulled tower guard duty. Even after I did finally get to work in my MOS on the flight line I was always armed with a 45 side arm. Does that mean I should be looked at as a combat vet? or is it just for the 11B infantry badge guys. Take care one and all and have a Great Thanksgiving! Stillhere
  13. Paul good luck and I hope you get what you deserve. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for your service! Stillhere
  14. Man that is a mess. Good to hear McCain's office was able to help you out I think I will drop a note to Webb and Warner and see if they can help. Thanks, Stillhere
  15. Allan, I send the VARO a request in a letter siteing the FOIA a couple of weeks ago for a COMPLETE copy of all of my C-file and records used to decide my claim. I received a letter from them yesterday telling me they were in receipt of my request and would be responding as soon as they can. Of course who knows how long that will be. Stillhere
  16. Thanks all I am at 60% for the heart now Boats and was trying for an increase on the new stent placment and the angina dizzinezz znd total lack of energy. Berta, I plan on showing all this to my VSO in the near future in the meantime I have requested a copy of my C file from the VARO and when that comes in should be able to tell better what they did and did not look at. This site is great and all vets helping other vets get what they deserve is kind of what you would hope the VA would, could, should be about! Good luck to all on your claims! Stillhere
  17. Boats, I have a reading on the LV of 46% and refused to let them give me another stress test until my outside doctor said it was OK. I had the 60% before but thought with the additional stent and the dizziness, angina and daytime fatigue they would rate me higher. Thanks, Stillhere
  18. Well got a thin white envelope today from St.Pete RO I sent mine to Roanoke asking for increase and looks like they sent it down to St. Pete. I asked for increase for heart condition post stent placement in March with 3 days in hospital and limited activities for 3 weeks. They granted 100% for 1 month. They went on to say that all else remains the same and my rateing does not change. I think I might have screwed this up because I also wanted them to look at an increase for my BP and also my PN and while there is a mention of my BP readings under medication, no mention of rate at all. I have requested my C file and plan to meet with my VSO and have him reveiw it also maybe I should have used him this tiime but my original one has moved and they gave me a new one at the last minute. What do you all think, have I screwed this up?? Stillhere
  19. I just received 100% comp for 1 month when I was in for heart stent placement. In hospital actually 2 days and limited activities for 2 weeks. Follow up cardio visit and release from limited activities 3 weeks later. The VA in it's wisdom granted me 1 month at 100% and then lowered me back down to my regular 70& rateing. Good luck on your claim. Stillhere
  20. Help please I have tried every way but yesterday to find the ecel spread sheet to figure out disability rates. Anyone know where it went? Thanks, Stillhere
  21. I had this problem at BANK OF A myself a while back. The manager read some reg and blew a bunch of smoke up my a--. Bottom line though they need a driver license. Also I just went and did my American duty and voted. I handed the registrar my disabled American Veteran Card and my drivers license and they set my disability card aside and just read off of the license!! Stillhere
  22. Well said and your point is taken. Stillhere
  23. All I did was send in a letter telling them that they have all the evidence to support my calim and to proceed with a decision. No form that I know of. Stillhere
  24. I am at 500mg was at 250mg when first started. Really knocks me out for the first 3-4 hrs. then wake up and have to take 2 tylenol for my PN pain or I can't get back to sleep. That works preety good for me get another 2-3 hrs but do sweat and nighmares. Sleep aint like it used to be, like most other things! Stillhere
