hey doc, i have not been to the site for quite some time, anyhow like you i was turned down for ssdi as well. i am waiting on a hearing...... i am 100%permanent how this works i havent a clue,my family knows a few young kids getting ssdi first try. it wouldnt bother me except they have never worked at all ,and there is really nothing wrong with them, it hurts for that to happen while there are veterans getting turned down good luck navy doc you deserve ssdi as does any veteran unable to work. some states (like oregon) have it out for veterans god bless

as most folks are saying ,lawyer up after your first turndown. while thqt is good advice i did the same thing and in between my first turn down and second turn down i too lawyered up. i received 100% sc disability in that time frame along with a housebound decision as well....sounds good only my lawyer did not turn the paperwork into the ss office. though they did make sure to send in the paperwork saying they were representing me. the moral of the story is if any service member has navigated the way through the va on their own. chances are they have better organizational skills then they give themselves credit for and make sure you still cover your own @#$ i feel i have taken it in the shorts on this one.

im sorry that really stinks. i too was denied and just filed the appeal. yeah it can bring you down , it sure took me down as well. some people get ssdi with a 10% va rating and others cant with a 100% rating...go figure. definately appeal sometimes i feel the ss folks dont care for vets anyway you have been here long enough to know these folks offering advice know whats up. who knows maybe we will both go through soon take care friend erico

i was rated 90% and filed for tdiu and ss. my ssdi claim was turned down and i just recently sent in p. work on appeal. i just got rated 100% sc from the va and am considered housebound. at this point is a lawyer going to offer much help or should i go at this alone thanks for all the help erico

received letter from va today...it is service connected,i am not sure what all that means but i do have a phone call into my service rep to find out.

my exams were in aug and sept. rating board mid nov decision end of jan deposit 5 days later. any tips for ssdi i was turned down initially is it wise to lawyer up?? thanks so much erico

yes it is i think i really dont know what to feel. so many things. now maybe i will stand a better chance with ssdi

ok are future exams the same as starting this whole thing again? im thinking that at least for now i should feel a little ok with this

ok i talked to dav rep. he confirmed that yes the va has decided on 100% plus an s the letter has not been generated though he said it is now in the system. he could not tell if it is p and t or not . additionally he said the letter would be generated quickly. hopefully all this is correct thanks erico

wow this is going to take some time to digest, i am not sure what to think right now. should i phone my dav rep and see if they know the break down [benefits] that my family may be able to receive? lastly thanks for all the help and such for the last several months as i went thru this stuff god bless ,erico

ok that sounds great what is sms s or housebound? i have not heard of that. i was severely frostbitten and have problems from that along with very intense depression as well from the injuries. i filed for iu back in august. hopefully this will also bring some benefits for wife and son, thanks for the input. i was also turned down for ssdi last month

called 800 number and fellow looked up my case and said the decision had been made and i was now 100% and i would be receiving 3250 per month ... how can that be??tdiu is less $ than that per month, i am very lost and happy...any ideas on whats up thanks

i called the va yesterday and the fellow said my tdiu claim was out if the rating board and at the final board? any idea on how long this may take? lastly like so many other folks i am very nervous and anxious to get this over with one way or the other. i am rated at 90% with ratings totaling 170% by real math. the va psych said "it as least as likely as not that this veteran is incapable of obtaining or maintaining gainful employment due to the severity of his mental and emotional problems at this time" and "it is as least as likely as not that this veterans OCD and major depressive order are directly related to his military service and the manner in which they occured" i also tried voc rehab and received a letter saying i had too many problems for them to help me. i feel like i have a good probability on getting a good decision??? anyway thanks for any input erico my daughter just got to her first duty station in alaska and will be sent to afghanistan in may

all great advice. i too am waiting on a decision for tdiu. at the rating board since nov. these folks are absolutely right the wait can eat you up. and the holiday season is sure to not help. hopefully we all hear soon. and though it is hard hang in there. were soldiers we can wait,,, erico

very interesting topic here... i too was farmed out of voc rehab. i have a letter saying as such. what is independent living? i am very interested also i am waiting fir my iu decision yet the ss di turned me down even though i also included the voc re-hab denial letter,not much help there for my case anyway

i posted a couple of replies that had a bit of negativity in them,for that i apologize , it is a tough road this va is,at times very discouraging. yet without them i would be lost and most likely dead. for those of you that have received the proper ratingl, i am very happy as you deserve it and the road has probably been rocky. for the rest of us lets keep our chins up and continue marching forward. happy holidays erico

tis the season for denial...i suppose like you i take 4 pain pills daily three psych pills one pill for panic attacks a pill for muscle spasms 3 huge ibuprofens and i got denied ssdi as well i still have not heard on my iu unfortunately i dont feel too good about any of this anymore. just a small whine but i would have thought a person with enough work credits and all that med, that makes it unsafe to drive would have been approved. anyway i really hope the best for you as it goes our family was hoping for the ssdi or iu before x-mas or we are being foreclosed on. no bailout for the disabled vets.......

ok i will call someone i suppose i am just pretty depressed right now.i just hope maybe i might get the iu but as of now i dont have too good of a feeling about much sorry for being so down i guess that is why the va gives me 50% for depression anyway you folks are great
