DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE ISSUES NEW IDENTIFICATION CARDS

The DD Form 2765, "Department of Defense/Uniformed Services Identification and Privilege Card," will be issued to sponsors, other than members of the military Services, who because of their current or previous association with the military Services, are entitled to Uniformed Services benefits and privileges. These individuals include Medal of Honor recipients and honorably discharged veterans rated by the Veterans Administration as 100 percent disabled from a Service-connected injury.

*Spouses/Dependents of 100% disabled veterans are issued DD Form 1173

AUTHORITY: DoD Instruction 1000.13, December 5, 1997

P.S. Did your wife get her CHAMPUS authorization yet?!

Yes she did get her Champa VA a few years ago and I just found in an old pile of stuff MY VA authorization for a card dated 2003... I will give that along with the Fast letter and see what happens... also as I go to see a doctor 2 times a month and have for years.. every year I get the doctor to fill out one of the SS forms asking the doctor to say GOOD , Fair ,, OR Poor and its about 4 pages long I now have three of these forms for each of the last 3 years .. I used the first one to get SSD as this doctor is a IMO.. The form list about 30 questions and I have been graded 28 poor and 2 fair... i wonder if i should apply for a straight 100% i am already 70 IU PT for 4 years now.. And I can use the doctors SS form as evidence for an increase is it advisable?

Robert:

As you know to ask the VA to do anything invokes a review of your Medical Condition. From what you say you should be able to get it without to much trouble. Really depends some on how old you are so if you are in late 50's or in 60's should be no problem at all in my opinion.

Good Luck

PS If your wife has ChampVA and you have not used it they will probably pay you back at least a year and if you appeal it cause you did not know you had it they may pay all the way back till when she was awarded it.

PS Wings at first I had a hard time with ChampVA but once it got rolling no complaints and they usally pay quickly for Mrs Pete after Medicare and all I have to do is copays at drug store.

Pete:

Has your wife tried the Meds by Mail. Mrs. Dobie has use

ChampVA for the last four years and it has worked great.

Starting in Mar she will start using Medicare with ChampVA

as secondary. Until Mar she is under my medical insur. and

ChampVA is secondary.

In March she is eligable for Medicare.

The only reason I asked is because in an earlier post you

had made a comment about a 25% co-pays and using a local drug

store.

Dobie:

Thank you very much. We know about the Meds by mail but my wife is against it so I indulge her.She likes being able to pick the meds up the same day she asks for it and my total copays are about 75 bucks a month now. Most of the cost are not meds by mail we can get.

But thank you for pointing that out and we might give it a try one of these days.

Commissary is tax free, less the 5% surcharge and baggers 'tips'. Most commisarys let disabled enter 30 minutes early too. Am wonderin' if bagger tip expectations will change when shoppers use our own bags now, I stand fast to make sure my groceries are 'carefully' handled, not mishandled at current prices! Sign on the door says baggers work for tips only and one can always bag their own groceries. I trade off, they help me get it to the car and I help them learn who pays for my groceries. smile,cg

I guess Wings has nailed it and case is closed. 60% or more rated with TDIU are eligible for commissary benefits.

I guess I need to go back to check out the Commissary Wings cause I found in many cases it is like shopping at Sam's to get a deal you need large quantities and also THERE IS A LOT OF STUFF THERE THAT IS MORE EXPENSIVE.

I am going to check out again cause we are buying diapers and formula for little Liam and it is pretty expensive.
