oh berta, i'm sorry you feel this way, i was sent the email by jim and shared it, i was not aware that he was accusing you anything, after reading it again, i suppose i shouldn't have shared it here. it was not meant to start a pissing contest, those who have been with me a long time including you know i'm not into that.

i have tried always to be supportive of veterans and their efforts to help other veterans.

i wish you would reconsider berta, i didn't mean to air "dirty laundry" i apologize

tbird

We had an incident last night (which the show's tape will reveal as well as the chat room text)

I was urged to keep this discussion going by Stardust via my headphones off the air-until it went downhill--Stardust was unaware this happened on one of my past show's with Jim-same callers-and I believe Jeff cut them off right away-but they kept calling in last night-

I am 1,000 miles away from the Stardust radio phone and cannot disconnect anyone from the radio show.

Stardust (Jeff) is unaware of the long anomosity that these vets (Simes and Berry)have caused in the veterans community.

Jim Strickland, after this incident-decided to blame me for allowing this to occur.

But I refuse to participate in pissing contests and I refuse to accept his bitter emails of allegations regarding me-

Again he was absolutely correct in what he said to these vets on the air-

They have been told this same information-time after time

(PS THANK YOU CARLIE-for typing the law on all that- this issue is not even appropriate for the SVR broadcast-Jere Berry has griped on the net ad finitum for years about a civil state law that we cannot change at SVR.He has his own show anyhow to gripe on about it )

I told Jim last night that if this email he sent to me also-was posted here at hadit today -I would leave hadit.

Because I believe that DIRTY underwear should be WASHED and not be presented to other web sites that are really not involved in the situation.

What I mean is Problems have solutions-and censorship often gets to be a fine line-

This email to hadit is Jim Strickland's way of continuing blaming me for the incident last night.

He accused me of setting him up and I certainly did not do that.

Hadit will certainly survive without my posts -there is a wealth of knowledgable people here.

I will sure continue to use the hadit search feature ,and read the posts from time to time- but will not participate in the discussions.

This was a SVR situation -it CAN be fixed-and he should not have brought it to hadit in this way. Then again he wanted a blame target last night and I guess he thought I would accept being one.

He is quite wrong about that.

I am writing my memoirs and would love it if you could help a shipmate out and look at it.

I've had a few challenges, perhaps the same as you. I relate them here to demonstrate that we can learn, overcome, and find purpose in life.

The stories can be harrowing to read; they were challenging to live. Remember that each story taught me something I would need once I found my purpose, and my purpose was and is HadIt.com Veterans.

Berta..

Since I did not hear the Strickland show, I wont "point the finger of blame" with anyone.

However, I am going to ask, in the interest of hundreds of Veterans, that you not leave hadit, because your departure would hurt Veterans as there is NO ONE else with your incredible and unique knowledge and empathy to Vets.

I am also familiar with Jim Strickland, and I would definately call him a "friend of the Vet".

So, I would ask him the same thing..which would be "We need more Veterans advocates, not less, and please lets all forgive and forget. Of course, different Veterans advocates disagree on how to best advocate the cause of the Vet, but let us unite with our common goal of helping the Vet."

To bad I dont have audio, or I would sing you the "mop" commercial jingle.."Berta come back..you can blame it all on me.."

I don't see how anyone could blame your, Berta. I think that may have been the sting of the moment coming from Jim. None of his emails to me sounded like he was blaming you at all. This was SVR's (Jeff) fault to a degree. He got bombarded with calls, and his best course of action would have been to disconnect the phones and tell you there was a technical problem and to tell everyone you can't take phone calls. Hindsight is 20/20, though.

Berta,

I agree with rental here.

We need to consider that this problem happened so fast.

Being that Jim has had problems in the past with the caller

he saw it coming at him - when no one else on SVR did.

Nothing I heard from Jim was pointing a finger at you,

I promise you that.

Berta, I do know how you feel, and am sorry for how the show

ended up and you feel blame was thrown your way.

I myself have been shot down in public, right here and know how

hurtful it is - when all you've tried to do is help other's.

Take some deep breath's and stay warm.

XOXOXO to you Berta.

carlie

Carlie passed away in November 2015 she is missed.

Mods should be closing this thread, not participating. This is not Svr.

I should hope what goes on there would not effect helping veterans here.

Please use the PM feature

Berta, I do not believe that Mr Strickland was jumping down on you. I was so upset after last nights SVR show that I was up all night vomiting and running at the other end, I was extremely upset that anyone would try to take over a show that I have enjoyed and learned from over the past year. I BEG OF YOU PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE SVR OR HADIT. I do not know if I can handle all the VA BS without the aid and assistance of yourself and all the others at Hadit who have a cooler head and a lot more patience than I do. If you leave I gues I will no longer be coming back again as the board will suffer a great loss without your always helpful, insightful, and knowledgeable posts. GOD Bless you and I hope you decide to stay.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
    • Welcome to hadit!

There are certain rules about community care reimbursement, and I have no idea if you met them or not.  Try reading this:

      https://www.va.gov/resources/getting-emergency-care-at-non-va-facilities/

However, (and I have no idea of knowing whether or not you would likely succeed) Im unsure of why you seem to be so adamant against getting an increase in disability compensation.

When I buy stuff, say at Kroger, or pay bills, I have never had anyone say, "Wait!  Is this money from disability compensation, or did you earn it working at a regular job?"  Not once.  Thus, if you did get an increase, likely you would have no trouble paying this with the increase compensation.

However, there are many false rumors out there that suggest if you apply for an increase, the VA will reduce your benefits instead.

That rumor is false but I do hear people tell Veterans that a lot.  There are strict rules VA has to reduce you and, NOT ONE of those rules have anything to do with applying for an increase.

Yes, the VA can reduce your benefits, but generally only when your condition has "actually improved" under ordinary conditions of life.

Unless you contacted the VA within 72 hours of your medical treatment, you may not be eligible for reimbursement, or at least that is how I read the link, I posted above. Here are SOME of the rules the VA must comply with in order to reduce your compensation benefits:
