HadIt.com Elder Commander Bob Posted February 19, 2010 Author HadIt.com Elder Share Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) It appears that the date stamping problem at my VARO has been resolved. ( for now ).... Yesterday, I presented a statement in support of claim, form 21-4138, and asked for a date stamp. Without incident, I was presented a stamped copy. Maybe they got the word. Or maybe that employee got off their lazy seat and took care of the vet this time. Or maybe I made a difference in my prior protestations to the higher ups... I don't know. However, I did learn that this "old soldier will not fade away" or "go gentle in to that good night". If anyone else encounters a situation where their VARO will not date stamp your documents when presented in person, please post it here or PM me. akwidow
Today I received my return receipt for my application for burial expenses...I live 150 miles away from Anchorage VARO. Yesterday I faxed in my application for Champva and printed out the transmission report.... I am so glad they pet down their hackles and started to treat you decently~ Edited February 21, 2010 by akwidow

deviant
I had the same situation, exact same situation with the exception the guy just didnt want to do it at all. He threatened to call them and I let him know that if I didnt get my stamp it was fine with me if he did because he prodded me until I had to raise my voice by not doing his job, and hey if they did call them then fine thats just an overreaction by them that will put more evidence in my claim on my mood disorder. But I left with a stamp!
HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted February 25, 2010 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted February 25, 2010 If the VARO refused to date stamp my material I would be pissed as well. I would probably do just what others have done and demand it. I would ask to see a counselor if the desk person would not do it. If the desk guy refused to let me see the counselor I probably would get escorted off the premises then straight to my congressman. You don't want to raise your voice or threaten them because it gives them the excuse to call security. How difficult is it for a VA employee to make copies of documents and stamp them? Some of these people are lazy jerks, no doubt.
