149 Days & Counting

Question

Well, it's been 149 days since I submitted my claim for PTSD. I've added my VA Psych diagnosis for PTSD & Panic Disorder (GAF 47) to my file as well as my Psych treatment notes (I go to the VA once a week for the OEF/OIF Group therapy class) and once a month to visit with my psychologist.

Don't know why it's taking so long, and when I call my DAV rep, he doesn't answer my phone calls. I'm still taking my meds (40mg/day of Citalopram & up to 3- 0.5mg/Xanax a day as needed) and going to ALL of my VA counseling sessions.

Is anyone else experiencing a long wait for an initial rating?

Thanks,

OEF 21B

Hi, I am new to the forums and wanted to add my 330 days and counting. My claim was filed August 24 2010 under the Quick Start program. I was told that because it was a Quick Start claim, VA had 90 days to complete it. It wasn't even to the decision phase at 90 days. Although currently, it has been IN the decision phase for nearly 100 days. This whole process has been nothing but trouble. At this point, I have run out of meds for PTSD, migraines and ulnar nerve disorder. I haven't been to therapy in nearly 1 year and everywhere I turn, I am told they can do nothing for me until I have an initial claim rating. Any advice?

VA Has to treat the PTSD or any MH issues.

Just wanted to provide another update.

I'm now at 586 days and counting... For some reason, I can't log onto e-vets anymore, so I can't check my claim status. I tried to log on with my DOD CAC card, and it wouldn't allow me access either. Called the help desk and an automated message directed me to another web-site...

The last time I checked (Feb 2012) my claim was still in the initial phase and hadn't moved. Had my PTSD C&P on 20 Oct 10.

I've changed meds several times and continue to see my VA psychiatrist and attend my VA Group meetings... Thankfully the fish are really starting to bite now!

...still waiting patiently...

Read this on VAwatchdogtoday.org:

Has Your Claim Been Delayed? Would You Share The Story?

Your Vawatchdog is working with a journalist from a major news reporting source about the backlog of claims at the VA.

This is your opportunity to tell your story to a nationally known news source. Has the delay hurt your family? Harmed your credit? Has it left your angry and frustratd? Is the VA helping you by expediting your claim?

Email me at jim912@gmail.com and lets talk.

I'm going to tell my story and I ask if you feel comfortable to do so also. This may be an opportunity to take our gripes national and bring maybe a little attention to the problem.

OEF21B,If you had a C&P exam,Oct 2010 and haven't heard anything, something is seriously wrong, maybe you need to take a trip to your Regional Office and see what is going on.If you still have your C&P results, could you download them.
