HadIt.com Elder Chuck75 Posted August 21, 2012 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) Looking at the SSA site - - You may be able to apply for early SSA retirement on your wife's account if you are 62. SSDI seems to not apply, unless you meet the quarter requirement for your age. I'd look at the actual laws and regs if I were you. Sometimes generalities don't exactly agree with specific circumstances. Edited August 21, 2012 by Chuck75
HadIt.com Elder Philip Rogers Posted August 21, 2012 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 21, 2012 I'm not sure but I think you should be getting a check that's equal to half of her monthly amount, because you are disabled. Do a written inquiry w/SSA, as they aren't responsible for anything they "say." jmo pr
HadIt.com Elder Pete53 Posted August 22, 2012 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted August 22, 2012 Yes once you attain the age unless you worked as a teacher in Texas you should be able to get half of her check. If you can get documents together and go to Social Security Office and ask for help. Unlike the VA they will help you.

HadIt.com Elder john999 Posted September 10, 2012 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted September 10, 2012 Which ever spouse makes more on SSA the other spouse can get up to one half of the other spouses SSA as long as the poorer spouse's full SSA amount (age 65-66) is less than half of what the richer spouse makes.I read this on SSA site and got an answer from one of the SSA blogs.
