If you want to add more VA life insurance (other than whats free)  then you need to apply for it  but as broncovet mention you have to pay for the extra policies I think its reasonable insurance  you can get another 10.000  up to 50.000 . the place that has our free VA Insurance is the ones that told me about it  in a letter they sent to me   JYI

you should get a update each year about your free life insurance and if you wanted to add to it.

I just have the free Insurance is all.   enough to bury me if wife needs it.

Ready for this?   called the VA insurance number.  Asked about the insurance and whether age was a factor.

Answer was "age" not a factor, however must apply within 2 years of 1st award.

Told him the website said "have received a rating for a new service connected disability within the last 2 years."

His response was "if you have a new rating within two years then apply."

Going to apply and see what happens

After my last award in 2013, I called them and they mailed me the forms to fill out for the free $10,000 policy. I submitted them, but received a denial letter for the free $10,000 policy. I called and the dude told me that because I was still working I did not qualify, even though I am 100% P&T.

If you are still working you can apply and get the insurance, you will have to pay until you are no longer working, the insurance is only available for 2 years after a new award.
