Question
Berta
I have to copy my post and log in again every time I post-
I cant remember the topic this was in-I think Army asked about the VBM.
I have bought the VBM since they first published them in 1991.
Not only were these books a big help when I succeeded in my re-open of my husband's 2 claims- they spelled out a little of the FTCA scenario I was involved with too-
More important than that-these VBMs have helped me to help countless veterans and widows over the years.
NVLSP-the lawyers who publish these VBMs -is a non profit org solely dedicated to helping veterans get their VA benefits.
In over 1800 pages- the VBM covers basic eligibility, family benefits, SMC as well as direct SC claims, Sec 1151, CUEs, TDIU, Burial awards,Insanity, BVA ,CAVC info, upgrading bad paper, VA Nursing home, Chap 35, etc etc - and considerable other information and citations.
Any PTSD vet or any vet with any mental disability that is not presumptive might benefit highly from their advice as to the stressor proof they need.
This book is always on my PC desk- as the dedication states:2006 Ed page V:
"To the veterans who have served our country, often at risk to their lives, and to the thousands of veteran advocates who tirelessly assist veterans and their families in their effort to obtain from the VA the benefits they need and deserve."
I could not possibly come here every day with any credibility if I did not have the VBM to refer to.
I recently talked to one of the authors (attorney Ron Abrams)-as to some of his suggestions I followed to the letter-
and got a very fast remand due to 3 specific reasons that the VBM helped me to clarify in a most brief remand request I sent to the BVA. When we found a problem here in an older edition-regarding the VSM as some might recall-some years ago- I immediately called Ron Abrams and they changed this in the next VBM.They know how dedicated we all are here too.
NVLSP won Nehmer and is supporting the Haas decision and all Blue Water vets and widows.
I think this manual is one of the best investments a vet , as a claimant, can make.
Lots of legalise however- but it is as simplified as possible.
GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !
When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief
Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was
simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."
Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.
