ptsd Combat Vets And
This might give Willey here and other combat vets the VA's take on stressors- and what is conceded and what is not : PTSD granted: one example http://www.va.gov/vetapp07/files1/0702210.txt The veteran had no combat awards but his evidence was consistent and his stressor was verifiable. In other BVA recent cases this is the criteria they use: "If VA determines that the veteran engaged in combat with the enemy and his alleged stressor is combat-related, then his lay testimony or statement is accepted as conclusive evidence of the stressor's occurrence and no further development or corroborative evidence is required, provided that such testimony is fo…

ptsd Hypertention- This One Will Make You Wonder-
We thought we should share this part of the rating decision. The VA can and does make a person laugh once in a while. Even our son, spotted this one and just shook his head in amazement. In part, "We have assigned a 0 percent evaluation based on a review of private treatment reports, VA outpatient treatment reports to include recent VA exam which shows you with blood pressure readings of 182/78,179/82, 178/80. A noncompensable evaluation is assigned unless diastolic pressure in predominantly 100 or more; or unless systolic pressure is 160 or more; or unless the veteran has a history of diastolic presure 100 or more requiring continuous medication for control. There is…

Varo Morning Reports
The latest RO weekly workload Report (Morning Reports) attached seems to show a great disparity in where the pre -discharge claims are going. Does anyone know why this could be happening? are these ROs closest to the base where the pre discharge service person is filing the claim? As of last week 9364 predischarge claims were filed with ROs My RO Buffalo got 20 of them.Winston Salem got 2493 of them. I cannot understand that disparaity- and also- how can the VA say these predischarge claims (new vets-Iraq predominantly) are holding up all claims at all ROs? Morning_Reports_VA.xls

Gulf War Vet
As some of you know, I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and have a claim pending. While reading on this board (and the othe less friendly one), I see that sleep disorder and insomnia are presumptive conditions for Gulf War vets. I have tried to get my letter to write a letter stating that the sleep apnea was present before I retired in 2004, but he refuses to do so. I have statements from my wife, oldest daughter and son in law. Would the sleep apnea fall under the presumptive conditions of the Gulf War?

100 Percent , Does My Family Rate Champus
I have been rated 100 percent for about 3 years. I had a re evaluation about 6 months ago and the rating remaigned the same. However, they did not make it permament, they feel that thier is a chance that I can get better since it is a mental illness (anxiety and depression). They also say I am currently unemployable. The doctor said I could eventually apply for permament. My questions is 1. Because I am not permament they say my family does not rated champus medical benefits. Is that true and are there any suggestions to get my dependents medical coverage? 2. When will they make it permament and is thier anything I can do to initiate it, or to quicken the descion. …
